Short Biography
Formed in Basildon, England in 1980, Depeche Mode (which means "fast fashion" in French) were among the first bands of the new romantic movement to feature an entirely electronic sound--a bold move which met with incredible commercial and critical success throughout the '80s and beyond, making them one of the most successful alternative bands of their generation. The original lineup consisted of singer David Gahan, keyboardist/songwriter Vince Clarke, keyboardist/guitarist Martin Gore, and keyboardist Andrew Fletcher.
