About

Dennis Locorriere presents Dr. Hook on Tour

The original singer of some of the best-loved hits of the 1970s and ‘80s, Dennis Locorriere celebrates 50 years of Dr. Hook with an anniversary tour that takes him and his band all around the world. Whether listeners regard these songs as old friends or are discovering this music anew, they will savor this chance to share the night together as Locorriere performs "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman," "Sexy Eyes," "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," and many more songs that helped define their era.

Locorriere's story as the vocalist and guitarist for one of rock's biggest acts began in 1968. That was the year that a group of young musicians in New Jersey landed upon the name of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, a name partially inspired by the pirate-like eyepatch worn by the band's cofounder Ray Sawyer.

The band's big break soon arrived when they were enlisted to perform songs written by cartoonist and poet Shel Silverstein for a movie called Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me? Though the film quickly disappeared, the alliance with Silverstein was enormously fruitful, leading to the band's first million-selling single, "Sylvia's Mother," in 1972. Future hits — like "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," a satirical dig at the tastemaking magazine — proved just as popular thanks to the match of Silverstein's sly wit, the band's easygoing charms, and Locorriere's warm, smooth vocal style.

After shortening their name to Dr. Hook, the band had an even more successful run through the late ‘70s and early ‘80s with ballads like "Sharing the Night Together" and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman."

Since the original band's run ended in 1985, Locorriere has continued to perform and record, both as a successful solo artist and the proud performer of Dr. Hook's biggest hits before sold-out audiences worldwide. The 50th anniversary tour includes dates in venues all over the U.K. and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and Scandinavia.

We have been Dr Hook fans for a long time. I know he is up there in age and can't sing like he used to but he still put on an enjoyable nostalgic show.
