Lela James practically a no show
by jazzfan4 on 8/23/11Redstone Arsenal Activity Field - Redstone ArsenalMike Ware, Tinsley Ellis, Delta guitar singers, were excellent as opening acts. They brought energy, and professionalism to the show. Lela James was thirty minutes late to start her act. When she finally showed up, she "sang" one of her songs and did a remake of the staples singers's song. Next, Lela James apparently did not feel like singing, as she played the recordings of other groups singing ( Maze, Tenna Marie, etc.) and just asked people to dance on stage. After about 15 minutes of this , Lela James said that this would be " her last song " and that she had to catch a flight out of Huntsville. She then asked if we would like to see her again? A lot of people were packing up their chairs and leaving at this point. Lela James was a major disappointment. I would gladly pay to see the other three groups again, however, I felt ripped off by Lela James. I hope that her "career" tanks after this concert. She won't get anymore of my money in the future....
