About

DELOREAN IN CONCERT:

Spanish indie dance band Delorean are the Iberian Peninsula's answer to LCD Soundsystem and Franz Ferdinand, bringing hip audiences around the globe to their feet with an energetic blend of rock, electronica, and sampled sounds. On 2013's Apar, their fourth album, the band expanded their sonic palette even further, enlisting the help of Glasser and Chairlift's Caroline Polachek to provide female vocals to their already-lush productions. Despite a highly publicized kidnapping incident in Mexico City in October of 2013, the band continued to give high-energy performances in the final months of the year, exhibiting a resilience and passion for performing that has made their 2014 tour dates a hot ticket item among urban cognoscenti.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in 2000 in Spain's remote and separatist-leaning Basque Country, Delorean was born out of an effort to synthesize its members' interests in both punk rock and electronic music. After an EP and two studio albums failed to garner mainstream attention, the band relocated to Barcelona and began experimenting with increasingly computer-oriented composition and production. The gained increasing exposure in the music press with remixes of The xx, Cold Cave, and Franz Ferdinand, paving the way for 2010's Subiza, which Pitchfork named one of its Top 50 Albums of 2010.

    SO GOOD.

They're so much fun live. I saw them at the Williamsburg Waterfront for free over the summer and it was a little underwhelming...but this BLEW ME AWAY. An amazing night to start off my holiday break!

by oldenufftoknowbetter on 11/26/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

haven't seen a band get normally reserved NYC hipters ALL on their feet jumping around. LCD and Franz Ferdinand better step up their games! Dance music for folks that don't particularly like dance music.
