Too many commercials during the show!!

by Deni on 6/2/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

I've been going to the horse show nearly every year since 1996. 1996 was the best! A vast array of horses, riders and tricks. This year, almost 1/2 the show was promoting something or another! And fewer horses. So sad.

    Del Mar Dressage

by T&G on 5/16/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

We try to go the the dressage show every year. Although my wife and I have ridden for many years and enjoy all kinds of riding, including to the Sierras back country, this dressge show is literally like horse ballet. I can't believe what I'm actually seeing in terms of what the horses can do and how the riders give the instructions with virtually no obvious signs. It's very soothing to watch and enjoy along with a glass of wine or a beer. Great show. We plan on continuing to attend.

    Fantastic

by Kathy on 4/30/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

Had a great time, the venue is wonderful, we had great seats which were comfortable, the seat back makes a world of difference, the lighting was perfect, The Horse show was so beautiful, the intermission show was really great, all around it was excellent. We did have a problem hearing the announcer, so we weren't able to hear all the info about each horse and rider, we thought it would have been nice if that info would have been put up on the screen.

    Mediocure at best.

by redmary on 4/23/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

My 5th year attending & I was embarrassed that I convinced 4 friends to come this year. Previous years' performers were professional, flashy, exciting. 2019 NofH was like watching the local pony club - amateur night. Last drill team was great, roper was enjoyable. Intro by Event Manager was self-serving and too long and seemed to be stalling for time. Show abruptly ended BEFORE 9 although promoted as 7-10. . 2019 NoH seemed like a cheap reduced version of previous years....at the same price. EVERYONE ALWAYS COMPLAINS ABOUT THE ACOUSTICS in Delmar Arena - it is IMPOSSIBLE to understand the announcer ANYWHERE in the stands. At least have closed captioning on the monitors so people can read what's being said. BOTTOM LINE - NOT1 PERSON IN MY 6-PERSON PARTY EXPECTS TO RETURN NEXT YEAR. Buying thru Ticketmaster was easy and efficient and when I needed to extend my seating - very gracious and accommodating. Ticket takers at the gate were gracious and helpful too.

Del Mar Horse Show Middle Section Seating

by c. on 4/23/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

The horse show was wonderful. We especially liked the California Cowgirls drill team, the Blue Shadows drill team, Spencer Rose in liberty ground work, the Riata Ranch Cowboy girls trick riding, and the Victorian Roses ladies riding society. We also liked the Harris stateliness and how they introduced the next act. All of the acts were very talented. Thank you for coordinating such a great show in San Diego County...at the lovely Del Mar Fairgrounds. *Any chance the Lipizzaner stallions might ever be invited to San Diego?

    Great performance

by M. F. on 4/23/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

Took my girls, 4.5 and 3 years old. They loved it and were both convinced they can become cowgirls. Very good event. One thing that was odd to me was the music selection outside of the event in the food and vendor area. It was a cover band that was playing oldies type music from the 80s and 90s. They were fine but the style of music was a bit odd and out of place. My wife and I felt like a country cover band would have been more appropriate and better received.

    Okay show

by S. H. on 4/23/19Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

I really enjoyed the drill teams, but there was a lack of variety. It seemed like most of the show was drill team. I also felt the show was too short for the cost of tickets and parking. I had a difficult time hearing the announcer too. Overall the show was ok but I didn’t leave excited to come back.

    Riders and horses were amazing.

by Rocky61 on 5/11/18Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

This event never disappoints. With that said, the acoustic system for introductions, awarding cup winners, etc. before the event was horrible. We were in Section R and could not understand anything said, which was frustrating, especially with the presentation for Judy Martin.Thankfully, when the announcers moved to the booth to begin the jumping, the audio was understandable. If the system can't be fixed, at least put closed captions on the big screen or keep the announcers in the booth and someone else in the arena.

    Awesome....but

by TheOneandOnlyGidget on 5/10/18Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

The event would have been a 5 if the first hour of a too long night hadn’t been spent on awards and silliness. There was added frustration with not being able to understand a word that was being said. The awards were relevant to a small audience and should have been done at a venue with those who would appreciate it.
