About
The Daytona Tortugas are a Minor League Baseball team that plays in the Florida State League. Their team colors are dark green, dark blue and tan. The team is also known as the "Tugas" and their mascot is a turtle named Shelldon. They have been affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds since 2015, after 22 seasons with the Chicago Cubs.
The Tortugas play their home games at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, which is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The ballpark has a seating capacity of 4,200 and is named after the legendary baseball player, Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in baseball. The stadium opened in 1914 and is one of the oldest ballparks in the country.
Over the years, the Daytona Tortugas have had many memorable moments and achievements. In 2013, future MLB star Javier Baez hit four home runs in a single game.
In 1995, the team won their first Florida State League championship. They also won the championship in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2011 and 2013. In addition, the team has produced many successful players who have gone on to play in the major leagues, including Kris Bryant, Sam Fuld and Geovany Soto.
