About

DAVE STEWART IN CONCERT:

From his days as one-half of legendary synthpop outfit Eurythmics to his acclaimed country-tinged solo outings, Dave Stewart has proven himself to be a dynamic and continually evolving artist. In 2013 he released Lucky Numbers, a heady mix of rock, blues, and country that featured guest appearances from the likes of Martina McBride and Karen Elson. As usual, Stewart matched the workmanship of the album with a string of electrifying performances that have set big expectations among ticket buyers for his upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

British-born Dave Stewart got his start with folk-rock band Longdancer, landing a record deal while still in his teens with Elton John's Rocket Record Company. In 1976 he met Annie Lennox, recording with her for a short time as the Tourists before the duo eventually became the Eurythmics in 1980. Following a moderately successful 1981 debut LP, the pair launched to mainstream success in 1983 with their platinum-selling sophomore album Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), which spawned several hit singles including its chart-topping title track. The duo would continue to release hits throughout the decade before parting ways in 1990. Since then, Stewart has had an impressive career as both a producer and a solo artist, releasing nine albums including 2013's Lucky Numbers, an acclaimed collection of country rock tunes that will feature prominently on his upcoming tour dates.

It was a fun night out. Who would not have a good time listening to favorite Beatles tunes. Billy Ray Cyrus was a little disappointing. Not who I would have chosen as a surprise guest. To be honest I guess I was really hoping unrealistically that Sir Paul or Ringo might show up. Really enjoyed Martina and Michele Branch. Overall a good time.

    could have been better

by Ireeees on 8/30/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I love the Beatles! I was expecting something really grand for the Beatles 5oth at the Bowl. Sooooooooo disappointed. It was like going to an elementary school program..too much time between performers and the camera following them off stage...what was that about? Billy tried to rile the audience and so did the young lady with the red hair...I think her name was Vanessa. All the performers were very talented I admit but who were they? No introductions It was just a boring show and did not leave me wanting more..

Refund Requested - One of the Worst Concerts!

by Torrdando on 8/30/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Was very disappointed that as a tribute to the Beatles 50th, there were hardly any pictures of the Fab Four thru out the concert. We expected to see vintage footage of their concert at the Bowl in '64 -- other video clips of the band, some interviews of them talking about their first visit to the Bowl and LA, etc -- but -- there was NADA -- a few pics from Sgt Pepper's album cover -- big deal.......and NO message or comment from Ringo ?? At least Paul was decent enuff to convey a msg to the fans. Dave Stewart and his group of "special guests" -- including 3 of his children -- were more like Dave Stewart's Amateur Family hour -- singing off key, missing words to the songs, obvious lack of rehearsal. Didn't seem like it was really thot out that much......many fans along with myself have requested refunds!

    Very disappointing show...

    by Fishy456 on 8/29/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Could have done a much better job introducing the talent and celebrating the songs from the original show. The production just seemed "kluncky". We enjoyed Martina and especially Kya. Everyone else fell short of our expectations. Missed a great opportunity to celebrate one of the most iconic bands in history.

Beatles salute more of a crucifixion than tribute

by Muratelise on 8/29/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I had really high hopes for this event but it just fell flat. Seemed more like a gathering of Dave Stewart family and friends than a tribute by professionals Very disappointing! Did enjoy the Hollywood Bowl though.

    Beatles 50th was not great!

by CaroldeJeannie on 8/29/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Someone should tell Billy Ray Cyrus to stop singing. Everyone in our seating area was not happy with his performance. He was off key on every song. Some of the female singers were pretty good. Dave Stewart should have left his son out of the show. He was terrible! The second act was better then the first, but in all, the show was not good. I expected much more for such a great anniversary event.

    Awful

by Jillyyyy on 8/29/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

The show was incredibly disappointing. No one in that family can sing and even the guest singers were so-so. I would have thought the Hollywood Bowl could have obtained better talent, even cover bands would have worked.

    beatles 50 yrs later, yeah!!

by beatlemaniactoo on 8/29/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

So fun, seems like I was the only one in the entire audience to stand and scream when Bob Eubanks asked "who in the audience was here 50 years ago?" I know there was a scattering of us beatlemaniacs in the audience, but awesome to be able to say I saw the Beatles then!! Then also fun to chat with Dave Hull after the show.

    What a Disappointment

    by gotmusic4me on 8/29/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Extremely disappointed in this concert. Singing by Dave Stewart & "kids" was terrible, sound system was lacking, and camera techs did a poor job of getting & keeping the shots on the screens. In fact, one screen kept blacking out. If it weren't for Martina McBride (love her BTW), and Alan Stone, this concert would have been a complete waste. Dave Stewart was no "Ringmaster" and could barely articulate a sentence. This was no tribute to the Beatles 50th Anniversary but rather a disgrace. Hollywood Bowl staffers should be ashamed & someone needs to be fired!

Amateur night. Kept waiting for it to get better. Great disappointment. Waste of time and money!
