    Dark Girls

by DivineQueen on 2/1/12Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I had the pleasure of seeing this stellar production on Thursday, 19 January, 2012 in Baltimore. It was quite eye-opening realizing the significant impact that words and image have on children. What I took from this documentary was that parents should make an effort to emphasize the beauty of their children no matter the shade. It is sad that in the year 2012 African Americans are still color struck and children are being made to feel inadequate because of their darker skin-tone. I highly recommend that everyone go see this film to gain insight on the continuing struggles of Dark Girls.

    Dark Girls

by nneya on 1/20/12Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I had the opportunity to see Dark Girls on Thursday January 19, 2012. This is an excellent film. There is so much history, there are so many teachable moments and opportunities to create a dialogue on race relations and self esteem. This film is very empowering. I saw this with my sister and my daughter and we had a very powerful discussion afterwards. I look forward to this film becoming available on dvd. I would love to add this to my collection.

Dark Girls was a thought provoking documentary!!!

by SimonSez on 1/15/12Apollo Theater - New York City

Just saw Bill Duke's thought provoking documentary called "dark girls", I truly believe the African Proverb "Until the lion has his historian, the hunter will always be a hero." Finally, the dark girls have a historian and we have emerged as HEROES.
