My nephew was in town and we took him to see Berlioz’s The Damnation of Faust performed by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, I have seen the Opera which was very good, So i am familiar with the story and also read the story. However this is more of an Oratorio and it was non sequitor whereas when performed as an opera the audience can watch the downfall of Faust and why he loses his soul to the Devil,However not in this version .One just conjectures,it has none of the drama ,except for a few excerpts in the music, The Arizona choir was good and the four singers but it was a piece played on Valentine;s day ,Now why drag the audience into hell by playing such a piece Perhaps something like Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet would have been more appropriate,We were all sadly disappointed in this piece,
