Well worth the three hour drive from Maine! Fabulous performance.

Damien Jurado has one of the most intensely beautiful voices I have ever heard. His songs and music are surreal and and every time I see him in concert (now 6 times!) I walk away awestruck.. He is also a genuinely nice guy and frankly I feel lucky to be in the audience drinking in all his amazingness.

Damien Jurado put on an amazing show

by Sonotahipster on 1/27/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

Excellent, intimate show. He really kept the audience feeling a part of. Extremely clever and witty banter.. Took me to a far-off place away from Polar Vortexes.

Great show in a cool venue!

by Shiprocker on 1/27/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

Damien was funny and he has an incredible voice. I wish he had played "Sheets" with a little more edge, but other than that it was a great show!

Damien Jurado takes Folk to the next level.

by COREBTM on 1/27/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Damien played about 6 songs off the new album, incorporating a 'voice box' for the harmony, and lots of old favorites. The homey was very conversational and told us some funny stories as well as a mock Fleet Foxes song. So talented and entertaining!

    Damien Jurado is phenomenal.

by AnonymousIII on 6/13/12Mercury Lounge - New York

Being a fan of Damien for years, I was beyond excited to hear that he was going to be playing the Mercury Lounge (my absolute favorite venue in NYC, it's so small and intimate). If I recall correctly, he played all of his new record and a few older songs. I will say I was a bit disappointed when I didn't hear "Ghost of David," but that's just because it's one of my favorite songs of all time. After hearing his thoughts on the evolution of his music, I was in awe of such a sincere and genuine man. He truly is humble and I will make it a point to see Damien Jurado the next time he comes back to New York. He is a true musician, which is so hard to find. The opening band, JBM, was absolutely amazing as well.

    disappointed

by Hopethishelps on 6/11/12Mercury Lounge - New York City

I was so excited to see him I bought my ticket 6 months in advance. I was extremely disappointed. I couldn't believe that he talked nonsense more than he sang. He kept going on and on and talking about stupid stuff. I wanted to scream just PLAY! He refused to play any song that was not new. Again, going on and on about how 'he is not in a box' and 'his music and his soul is expanding'.....DUDE we came to see you because we love some of those old 'in your box' songs.....so do us a favor and play 'em. The new stuff was good but....I should have stayed home and listened to his cd's. Also, he didn't play long and when he was talking one of his bandmates said "hurry up, we have to go play Brooklyn next"....uh, what about us? Awful. Sorry Damien but give me a little Fuel or Letters and Drawings....c'mon.

    weak

by LetDown9 on 3/12/11UCSD The Loft - La Jolla

I'm a big fan of Damien Jurado and was excited to see him live for the first time, but was sadly dispointed when I arrived just after 9pm for an 8:30 show start only to have missed the majority of his wopping 1/2 hour set. Not only was I let down to see that he was only performing solo with no band (although the three songs I did see, with him on acoustic guitar were great), but for some reason he openned the show when he was billed as the headliner. I'd never heard of Viva Voce, and was unimpressed with their equally short 40 minute set. To top it all off, the venue at USCD (the Loft) was only half filled with students who seem to barely have a pulse. I'm not sure who planned this show but it was a total let down in every sense of the word.
