Famed reggae singer and DJ Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley has been following in the footsteps of his legendary father Bob Marley ever since breaking onto the scene in 1996. Marley puts his own spin on traditional reggae with thumping beats and raspy flows on hits like "Welcome To Jamrock" and "Make It Bun Dem". Whether he's paying homage to his late father on "And Be Loved" or collaborating with his brothers, Jr. Gong always gets fans feeling irie when he spreads the good vibes on stage.
Born in Jamaica, Damian Marley started playing music at age 13 with his group the Shephards before deciding to pursue a solo career in his early 20s. His 1996 debut Mr. Marley introduced a new type of reggae to fans of the genre with his dance hall-meets-rap sound. When he followed up with Halfway Tree in 2001, Marley gained widespread critical acclaim and commercial success, receiving a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album the next year. Since then, the reggae artist has released four more albums -- including two No. 1's on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart -- won two more Grammy Awards, and collaborated with some of music's biggest acts, including Mick Jagger, Nas, and Skrillex. Damian Marley's music is just as timeless as his father's, and his ability to transcend the boundaries of traditional reggae will help carry on the legend of the Marley family. His incredible performances are inspiring and energetic, and he has concertgoers in high spirits every time he tours.
