About

DMX in Concert

All DMX seems to make is top-selling records, beginning with 1998's It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Collectively, his first five albums have gone platinum 15 times, and, as of late, DMX has been gracing stages all over the map with a 20th Anniversary Tour of the album that started it all. On stage, little has changed over the past 20 years. His live performances continue to showcase the same unique anthemic style, fierce braggadocio and passionate flair that he's always brought. His uncannily deep, raspy flow's still there, too, along with the highly recognizable grunts and hollers that could only come from DMX. At an April 2019 show at Manhattan's Irving Plaza he teased and toyed with the crowd before dropping his breakthrough single, "Ruff Ryders Anthem," as they roared along with the star.

DMX Background

Born Earl Simmons in Mount Vernon, New York, DMX grew up in Yonkers. As a troubled teen, he found himself wandering the streets late at night and befriending street dogs, spawning a theme that frequently appears in his music (most famously in his first charting single, "For My Dogs"). DMX has released nine studio albums, featuring such guest vocalists as Jay-Z, Cam'ron, Aaliyah and even Patti LaBelle. A father of 15, today DMX is a devout Christian and a deacon in his church. An entertainer at his core, DMX has had leading roles in a number of films, including Romeo Must Die with Jet Li and Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal. He gave what is arguably his marquee performance as Tommy "Buns" Bundy in Hype Williams' 1998 hip-hop epic, Belly.

We saw DMX, while he was in Dallas Texas. House of Blues always start their shows 2 hours after the tickets time in order to maximize their profit ( food & drinks). When DMX hit the stage it was awesome. The concert almost felt like CHURCH!!!! DMX was amazingly awesome.... we stood the entire concert!!!!

    Ugh

by Julia on 9/3/19Maine Savings Pavilion at Rock Row - Westbrook

Overall I had a decent time at the concert. Not too crowded as I was on the lawn.. there was a huge gap between the GA and the lawn section cutting off all ties to the crowd ahead and making it not as hype in the back. Still dancing around though was fun asf but the performers sound was consistently off and not close to loud enough for the people in the back. Spending over $100 on two tickets was not nearly worth it.. only good part is that the parking came free w admission..

Either late or is a no show

    by Gibbzee on 8/4/19

I recently saw him at the strand ballroom 8/3-8/4. DMX shows up extremely late yet again. Unlike the Master of Cereal he had a good reason to show up late which ill go by his word when he told us his aunt just pasted. However, he gave no reason why he was so late at the master of ceremony concert. A few years back he had a show up in Lowell,MA i went to . Yet again he was a no show. However, he still have a well sounded voice and interactions good with is an extra in my book. That is the ONLY reason i have him two stars.
