Having seen Cyrille many times, this performance represented a change in her selection of material. Her pitch, emotions, and scatting were outstanding. In addition, Shelly Berg and his trio were outstanding in their own right. Too bad this wasn't made into a live recording. Tout bien!!
We always enjoy Shelly Berg and his group, but we found Cyrille Amiee "forgettable" Her voice, although very nice was not strong enough for that stage....and her choice of outfit....OMG Who "dressed" her?
I have seen Cyrille a couple of times before. She is always amazing. Each time there have been different musicians playing with her on different instruments. The chemistry was great each time. The musicians are skilled, creative and communicate well with each other. The music selections are varied and wonderful. Cyrille has a style all her own. I love the jazz standards that she performs as well as her own creations.
With a voice that has incredible range and musicians who were great, the whole evening was very enjoyable. Love the new Chappaqua Performing Arts Center because it is beautiful, plush and an intimate space.
Cyrille Aimee and her accompanying physicians played a thrilling set of jazz Tuesday evening at the intimate theater. Her lovely French inflected diction, wonderful vocal styling with amazing "scat" and lovely rapport with guitarists, drummer and bass made for an unforgettable evening. This was certainly one of highlights of the festival.
