About

CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH IN CONCERT:

Formed at the end of the '60s, folk rock supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash remain legends to this day, as beloved for their perennial touring as they are for their influential legacy in American music history. The group, occasionally accompanied by Neil Young, has weathered over four decades of dramatic highs and lows, coming out no worse for the wear — in 2012 they released their fourth live album CSN 2012, proving their intricate vocal harmonies were as exquisite as ever and building anticipation for their 2014 tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Their voices were magnificent. You could close your eyes and be transported back to 1969. It brought back so many memories."

"After all these years their harmonies were right on. Each old CSN song was done with a lot of life and attention to detail. These guys really seem to care and it showed."

"Acoustic versions of classics including Helplessly Hoping and Guinevere sounded as good as ever, along with roaring rock & roll classics."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash had each already been members of successful groups when they got together in 1968, hailing from The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Holllies, respectively. After an improvised performance at Joni Mitchell's house resulted in the trio harmonizing together, they took steps to make it official, signing a unique deal with Atlantic Records that used their surnames as the band's name, giving them an unprecedented level of independence and ensuring that the group could not continue on in the absence of one of them. Following the success of their self-titled debut in 1969, they added Neil Young as an official member to round out their touring lineup. The new configuration proved to be a hit — Deja Vu, their 1970 debut as a quartet, landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, going on to sell over seven million copies. Over the course of eight studio albums, the band has penned some of the most iconic songs in American rock music, continuing to thrill fans with arena-filled performances of classic hits like "Ohio" and "Helplessly Hoping."

Crosby, Stills & Nash - Sioux City Concert

by JerryStubbe on 6/16/15Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

My 15 year old and 11 year old love CSN so when I heard they were coming to the area I booked tickets. It was a great performance. I've seen them 4 times now and they never disappoint. The kids loved them and are even exploring their work deeper.

    Classic

by Marc48 on 5/31/15Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Love all the classic tunes I grew up with. Crosby and Nash still have it. Stills...well not so much. Maybe an off night in the vocal department for him but his guitar still rocks. Good show overall and great memories.

    CSN at the Wang

by SniBear on 5/28/15Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre - Boston

CSN was a great show. They played all the songs that I wanted to hear. From starting with "Carry On" to the final song of the night "Suite Judy Blue-Eyes", the band members kept things tight. Of course there were moments, here and there, where a certain note or musical chord was off, but overall, the performance was fantastic. Actually, Stephen Stills saved his voice to hit the high note during SJBE. It was a wonderful evening as we were celebrating my wife's birthday as well as my brother's girlfriend's birthday. All in all, a great show and a great evening.

    crosby stills and nash

by leobert on 5/27/15Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Awesome show once again, they still got it! The Oakdale is the perfect venue for the band, they still have the range, Steven Stills is a totally underated lead guitar player. The crowd is mature, and respectful, you can enjoy a little tailgate in the parking lot. They play the classics and new music also, we will be back again next year!

    Great show!

by Heartfan4444 on 5/27/15Toyota Oakdale Theater - Wallingford

The show was better than we expected given that Graham Nash and David Crosby are 73 years old. We were impressed that their vocals are still that good, and they are definitely tops among their peers. Stephen Stills' vocals have suffered a bit for some years in part because of hearing problems, but his guitar playing is still masterful, and he hit some high notes much to the audience's surprise. I've watched old CSN 70s shows, and I think David sounded better than some of those. They played for over two hours with a 15 minute intermission and no opening band. The setlist had their big hits, but also a Bob Dylan cover, and a few of each of their solo album songs. While the audience couldn't sing along to those solo songs they weren't boring for me, and it shows they are not just a greatest hits band phoning it in and are still creating. Graham and David singing a capella was wonderful, and you could tell Graham was doing it naturally and putting everything into it--no backtracking or vocal assistance; the most they do is have their mics a little loud which is fine with me. They also introduced the band members having each of them do mini solos. Excellent backing band. It's so great that there is still a harmonizing group around--we don't get those anymore. I'd recommend this show, you get your money's worth, and contrary to one comment here, the Oakdale theater has good sound, and I'm happy the venue is still alive and well. CSN is better in a smaller venue which most always has better sound than in a cement and tin roof arena. Each of these guys have a legacy back to The Hollies, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, CSN, and CSNY, plus solo records, which put each of them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice! Go see them while you can.

    CSN still have it

by tdbrooks on 5/26/15Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

The music is classic and timeless, although I was nervous that their ability to achieve the close harmonies I love in a live setting would be difficult to impossible. However, not to worry...they've still got it. Graham was in particularly fine voice and Crosby surprisingly so (given that he almost died from drugs). Somewhat disappointing was Stills. First....Steve, shave off the beard! It makes you look MUCH older and you're plenty good looking. Second, although Steve's guitar playing was great, his voice sounded ragged on his leads and much better when combined with Nash and Crosby. Since many of his songs have him as voice lead, I don't know whether there is a fix. In any case, I really enjoyed the concert and wish that I could sing with them and discuss their storied history and ties to the greatest rock musicians of our time (Neil Young, Joni, Joe Walsh, Glen Frey, Eagles, Poco, Loggins & Messina, etc.)

    CSN Better Than Ever !

by Klinkmeister on 5/26/15Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

I first saw Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young) in only their 2nd appearance live ( Woodstock ). I have seen them many times since. It's phenomenal to see & hear the ultimate in professionalism and performance after all these passages... Great company is important. Hang on for waves of changes if you were at all active back in the 60s or since...

    Memories

by MACEDOO on 5/26/15Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Playing all the old songs brought back many of the memories from 40 years ago. Steven Stills voice has aged about 40 years and although it was not terrible, it was not the same sound as originally. Most of the songs were by the group so it was blended in but his solos were disappointing. However, his magic on the guitar has somehow improved over time. Some of the solo guitar work brought the crowd to their feet. But the concert was about the group and it was awesome. One hit after another and just when you think they have played them all, there are more. Hard to believe just how many hits they had...and that is without Neil Young. If ever an opportunity arises to see them, spend your rainy day fund and to.
