    Wonderful show!

by Hatu on 3/19/24Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center - Ft Lauderdale

Show was better than I expected! Great story telling between songs added insight to the life of John Denver. If you closed your eyes you would have thought it was John Denver himself performing!

Jim Curry Band didn't quite take me home

by tnt31 on 11/1/14Ames Center (formerly Burnsville Performing Arts Center) - Burnsville

In my mind a tribute band that plays music from a famous performer from the past should just get up on stage and crank the music out and let the crowd remember and relive a time past when they saw or listened to that performer who we will never get to see again. the Jim Curry Band overall did a decent job of doing that, but I found myself (and the people I was with) getting a little tired of all the chattiness. If you are going to spend your money to go hear someone you know is not the real thing, you are there for the music, not the conversation. The excessive talking got in the way of the mood and the music, and I ended up feeling cheated out of about 5-6 additional songs that could have been played if not for the talking. Not all the greatest hits were played because the band changes it up each tour, and if this was your first time seeing them, you missed out because their set changed. All great songs-no problems there, but why skip Leaving on a Jet Plane for a deep track from an album that few bought? All in all a good show, and recommended for John Denver fans but I won't see them again unless I know the set list ahead of time.

Jim Curry had John Denver nailed. His voice, his hair, his wire-rimmed glasses. He was a spitting image of John. It was though I was watching John Denver live. Their song list was great, the story-telling was great, the way in which the band members interacted was great. Mr. Curry took time, after the show, to do a meet and greet. Other artists charge you hundreds of dollars for this opportunity. They were very talented and classy people. I would recommend this show to anyone who was/is a fan of John Denver!

Excellent music quality, excellent venue, and terrific musicians. It's great Jim Curry and his band of talented musicians are exposing a new generation to the music of John Denver. I hope they return soon for another concert.

    Jim Curry at his best!

by geothermist on 10/28/14Ames Center (formerly Burnsville Performing Arts Center) - Burnsville

John seemed to be present and inspiring the Jim Curry group Saturday night. The troubadour was in fine form as usual, but I was especially impressed by all of his support cast, led by John's former band members, Mr.Sommers and Mr.Garcia. We JD fans will be back!!

    Enjoyable Memories of JD

by MaryandMike on 10/28/14Ames Center (formerly Burnsville Performing Arts Center) - Burnsville

My wife and I enjoyed Jim Curry, his wife Ann, and other band members, couple of whom were with JD back in the day. Concert was a little under 2 hours with one intermission. Show included a slide show where added to the memories. Obviously can't sing all of JD's 300+ songs but show had a bit too much chatter which took time away from the singing. Band welcomed sing along which was good. Good venue for this concert.

They did a good job with John's music, wish they had played all of his hits, I hadn't heard of half of the music before. The tickets were a little pricey for a group that was not that well known.
