About

The Commodores are one of the most iconic funk and soul bands to ever bust a groove, riding the rhythm section since 1968 and remaining musical innovators to this day. In concert, Walter Orange, William “WAK” King and J.D. Nicholas take audiences on a tour through the roots of funky soul. "Machine Gun," a grooving instrumental from their debut album, feels as fresh today as the day the tracks were laid down. Orange’s instantly recognizable voice reminds everyone that she's a "Brick House," one of the band's most recognizable hit singles.

The Commodores first met at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Four years later, they were signed to Motown Records after opening on tour for the Jackson 5. They focused on their own unique brand of Southern funk, rising to the top with chart-toppers including “Slippery When Wet” and “Just to Be Close to You.” Now, backed by their five-piece band, The Mean Machine, The Commodores share their unique vocal stylings through even more of their number one hits, including “Three Times a Lady” and “Still,” two more of their seven songs that have topped the US R&B charts. “Nightshift” also garnered the band a Grammy award. From a performing point of view, Orange, King and Nicholas simply can’t be slowed down. They know they have soul. They were 2003 inductees in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and have earned an American Music Award. More than anything, however, The Commodores leave it all on stage every time they play, because they know that they are able to write their own ticket through their music.

Show started promptly at 8pm, lots of great music from both groups. Both bands engaged the audience and played non stop. Highly recommend if you're a fan of 70's -80's music. Definitely will bring back great memories.

    Liked all but one….

by Islandgirl on 3/26/24Seminole Center Outdoors - Immokalee

Had a delightful evening out. WAR was amazing! Commodores were who I came to hear but felt a bit let down. The white haired man in the group was not a favorite. He tended to dominate at times, he wandered on and off the stage all night and parts he sang were over the top and too much. The group needs to move on without him. Very talented musicians, otherwise.

    Disappointed

    by Tonigirl on 2/14/24

First and foremost, the Spinners put on a great show. In my opinion, they should have been the headliner. The commodores were very disappointing. The show was OK at best. None of the songs sounded like the original. Glad my tickets were comped by the casino. I would’ve been very upset if I had paid for this concert!

    Commodores Concert

by Joe on 2/2/24Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom - Cincinnati

The concert was just OKAY. It was not very authentic to the original songs and the band members talked waaaaay too much instead of singing.

    What a let down!

by Motown fan on 2/1/24Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom - Cincinnati

I’ve always been a Motown fan. Loved the music that made you NEED to dance and FEEL the song. After buying these tickets I was looking forward to celebrating with the Commodores and hearing all their fabulous songs since I had not been to one of their concerts. I don’t think one song was delivered as the song was released as a hit. Words, delivery, and emotion were just wrong. Their voices were great, but when you don’t sing something as it has always been loved, it’s not good for me. The Spinners were the first act and they were great, I’d see them again and would recommend their concert, but I was really disappointed with The Commodores.
