    Improvement

    by M. R. on 11/19/19Washington Hilton - Washington

It was overall a good ball. The guest speaker was one of the best, he had humor and related to the audience. Food was great. The gift was nice and practical. And the dancing was great. I would improve on signage. We had a hard time finding where in the hotel the ball was and never figured out where the shuttles picked up at the hotel. The salad for the dinner could also use improvement, the “lettuce” was horrible. The gift should of had something inscribed on it to show it was from the Commandant’s ball, instead it was just something bought right off the shelf.

Great, but upper deck is too crowded.

by LtCol C on 11/12/19Washington Hilton - Washington

We need to remove a row of tables on the upper deck. It is way to packed for the servers and guests.

    Rushed, crowded, and undercooked

by Senior Marine on 11/12/19Washington Hilton - Washington

plenty of room for the servers to walk between tables was not consider on the upper levels seating near the 130 tables. It was ridiculous to constantly have to scoot in so people could walk by and constantly having your seat get bumped into as the wait staff tried to squeeze through. Poor design, there was plenty of room between the tables on the lower floor. This appeared to have been an attempt to squeeze in more tables to allow for more people giving up the ability for comforts and ease of passage. You try enjoying a dinner with people banging into your seat the entire dinner hour. The food was ridiculously rushed, my wife’s plate was taken when she step away to use the restroom and I was looking the other way trying to have a conversation with others at the table. The meat was severely undercooked. The desert on our table was chocolate soup (undercooked)while the table next to us had chocolate cake (appropriately cooked). I have better experiences at a galas and other fundraisers where none of these issues occurred. Think about the enjoyment of the patrons, not how fast you can feed 2000 people.

Event was amazing, food was brought in from a hospital

by Ellen Andrew on 11/12/19Washington Hilton - Washington

Amazing night, moving ceremony, but the food tasted like it was brought in from a hospital. From a salad drenched in some mayonnaise based dressing to tough & tasteless beef, the food was a terrible disappointment.

Great venue for the USMC Ball

by John751 on 11/16/16Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center - National Harbor

The Gaylord is a great place for the USMC Ball. It was well put together and for an event that supported over 3000 personnel, it went smoothly. Already looking forward to next year.

    The best Marine Corps Ball

by Anonymous on 11/16/16Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center - National Harbor

The best United States Marine Corps Ball I've ever been to.

Poor coordination with National Harbor event staff. Double booking with the Xmas tree lighting resulted in a 2-hour backup to drive into National Harbor.

    Services were lacking

by Marine50 on 11/12/14Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center - National Harbor

We arrived at the Ball at 1745 and spent over 45 minutes attempting to valet park our car. The hotel did not seem prepared to receive the number of guest that were arriving and seemed confused on where to send cars once a lot was full. Once we were able to get into the hotel, we waited for 15 minutes to get our parking validated. After we went into the event we choose to wait on a line to get drink tickets. We waited on line only to be told 20 minutes into our wait that the line was about to close and that we should proceed downstairs and we could wait on a line down there for drinks. We were able to find a short line as we went downstairs, bought tickets for 4 drinks for 45$ and then had no time to actually go to the bar as it closed. Again, it appeared that the hotel did not have enough lines/bars to support the crowd that evening. Possible pre-purchase of either parking or beverages may support a better evening.
