    More than the Phantom

by cptnhook on 12/7/14Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

Who would ever know Colm could have been a stand up comedian? A very down to earth gentleman who has great versatility in material and truly seems to enjoy his audience. I was surprisingly impressed with the show, much more than I expected.

    A thoroughly enjoyable evening

by Chadley on 12/3/14Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

Colm Wilkinson has an amazing voice. I saw him perform both in Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera years back and he is still a powerful entertainer. His rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallejuha (sp?) was outstanding. The two women were wonderful as both backup and each in their own songs. The only negative would be he did not sing more songs from Les Miz or Phantom. It is a good thing he can sing so well and not have to rely on a career as a stand-up comedian. Some members of the audience seemed to forget that he wasn't there to have a personal conversation with them.

    Colm gets better with age

by zulutoo on 10/9/10University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

We watched a performer who seems to genuinly enjoy his audience and his time on stage. His voice is still incredible and his selection of music genres more than I had expected. It is easy to see why he has such an enthusiastic following.

    Worth the ticket price!

by 1stcolmconcert on 10/4/10University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

This was my 1st time to experience Colm Wilkinson in concert. Have heard Colm Wilkinson on CD - mainly showtunes. Does a spectacular job with those. Will say his voice was stronger and had a wider range some years ago, but he was still more than acceptable in this concert's live performance. I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Wilkinson's rendition of several numbers in the country music genre and would hope to enjoy more of those in future. Would have enjoyed more Irish music - included was Danny Boy, a signature number for Mr. Wilkinson. Perhaps he would be willing to introduce his audience to a few more lesser known Irish pieces in future concerts? He does them so well. I could see that Mr. Wilkinson enjoyed the rock numbers, enthusiastically jumping around on the stage with his guitar - however, i could also see the younger members of the audience cringing. Not exactly sure where the disconnect is, but it just wasn't reaching everyone. Many aging singer/performers make smart use of another performer to "spell" them onstage for a bit. This evening saw about a half dozen solos by singer performer Susan Gilmore - who sang so many songs that she really should have received almost co-star billing for the event. She was terrific, but from the other reviews, I would say that rabid Colm Wilkinson fans were disappointed that so much of the evening was without their beloved star. Mention of a co-star on the billing for the evening would give fans fair warning that Mr. Wilkinson will not be the only performer. Overuse of a fog machine on one side of the stage was a bit weird, and distracting, but happily there were no other theatrical gimics. This was a concert showcasing the voices and musical talent of the performers, including a terrific ensemble of back-up musicians. Overall the concert was worth the ticket price.

From the opening song of Music of the Night to his 2nd encore of Bring Him Home, Colm Wilkinson was absolutely fantastic. HIs voice is so beautiful and played perfectly with each different genres of songs. He put on a great show, including some jokes stories and sing along. I will see him every time he comes back to my area!. For anyone who appreciates good music and fantastic singing voice.

Broadway & a Little Too Much More

by Beardedbosn on 9/30/10University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

We love Broadway Shows with "Les Mis" and "Phantom" at the top of the list. We knew that his two biggies would be preformed along with others. His other songs, except for the country style were very enjoyable to listen to. Half of us are country fans but thought that road should be one a little less taken. Our first time at the venue at UB gave us a chance to look around. The view from our seats in the right balcony, the first after the walkway in row B, were very obstructed (front half of the stage) by the safety railings and the heads of the one row below us. We were only there for the music, we got plenty of that, a stage show would have been a disaster. What a voice, when is he returning???
