    Loved the movie

by Ellen on 5/2/19Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

I have NEVER written a review this long!! The movie was really well done and I learned a lot about a man who has always fascinated me. Gentle giant is how he was described which describes him perfectly. I love and frankly envy that he was on a true quest to find out ‘Who I am’ and to find peace. It seems, understandably, that he was conflicted and trying to come to terms with the opportunities and success he had compared to others. He ultimately managed ‘both worlds’ beautifully in my opinion. I also loved all the personal stories from his childhood friends to Nils to Bill Clinton. His bond with Bruce is amazing and I am certain that as much as I love Bruce that without Clarence he would not have reached the heights he has reached. I was very teary at the end of the movie. His was a true loss for so many people. Thank you to those who took the time to make this movie.

    Clarence! THe BIg Man!

    by W. G. on 4/30/19Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

Ah This was a great film. I had seen earlier renditions of this which concentrated more on just his china trip but this final thing combining that with other things to give a total picture (as best as we will probably ever get) of the man is just so much better.

    Clarnence!

by D.S. on 4/30/19Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

First show of this kind and I really enjoyed it. Went with my 15 old son and believe or not he enjoyed it too. Learned a lot and kept us wanting more throughout the show. Very well written and produced.

    Well done!

    by B. A. on 4/30/19Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

In this movie and in his own words, Clarence Clemons was on a mission to find his true essence. To his fans, he was bigger than life, the 'Big Man' ~ a saxophone aficionado! However, it was Clarence himself asking "Who Do You Think I Am?" Philosophically speaking, our lives, our personalities are all similar to the facets of a precious diamond, some facets reflecting the light brighter than others, some not so much. Although Clarence Clemons was a true gem, for sure, it was not enough, he continued to strive for improvement with a deeper spiritual journey. This speaks journals on what made Clarence the stellar figure he began in life, so in that respect I feel I did get an answer to his question! The movie was well put together. I'm happy Joel Amodei, president of Virgin Films and Nick Mead, the writer, decided to pick up Clarence's project and bring it to completion. Kudos!

Beautiful film about a beautiful man

by Marabird on 4/30/19Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

This film is a journey and quite emotional to watch. It feels so good to see Clarence and hear his voice. It’s a visit with an old friend. Clarence does find the answer to the question “Who do I think I am?” And it is right.

    Interesting movie, Gentle giant

by Lorett on 4/30/19Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

I enjoyed the movie. I learned Clarence was a very gentle, spiritual man. As a huge fan, it was good. The sound quality was off. It was difficult to understand what some were saying in the movie. Maybe it was difficult to mix together? Maybe it was the sound system? IDK. Also, the gentleman from Australia, he needs to SPEAK UP. He was speaking to the man next to him, instead of speaking to the crowd. He trailed-off as he looked at the man next to him, instead of looking at the crowd. Could not hear half of what he said. Overall, I’d go again. Miss the big man!

    just ok

by LeaC on 1/15/11Paradise Live - Hollywood

nice because Clemons' birthday so a celebrating event - guess I was "living in the past" & didn't realize he was 69- full of aches & pains- didn't play sax as much as thought he would - really went with my sons, both musicians to see him (one son plays sax) - but band was good - venue very nice - entire event would have been a positive memory if hadn't had a middle aged couple in front of us who thought they were teenaged lovers - humping, grinding all night - fortunately, one of the ushers kindly escorted them out to cool off. but they resumed position when returned - guess I'll think twice about going to an "old" band in a small setting. My son said, "i wouldn't pay to see Clemons play again, but I would like to meet him and talk about music".

    Great Show, but...

    by Coleman65 on 1/13/11Paradise Live - Hollywood

Clarence and the gang put on an incredible show at Paradise Live, a small venue. The preshow chit-chat and the happy birthday cake and festivities added to the event. The musicians were great, as was the music. Guest vocalist J.T. Bowen (from Clarence's first solo album), for me, was the hit the show. Incredible voice, incredible performer. My only issue with this show is that, for a venue of this size, the music was much too loud and the bass was so over the top and boomy that it muddied and ruined the overall sound of the music. I'm not an old fogie, and I've been to my fair share of loud, live shows in venues of all sizes, and I can honestly say that the sound levels at this show were just plain excessive. Clarence will be performing at Paradise Live once a month. Will I go to another show? Yes! Will I bring a good set of earplugs next time? Unfortunately, also yes.
