    A Brilliant Cinderella!

by VAArtist on 4/2/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

Ballet Theatre of Maryland is always a joy to watch. Their performance of Cinderella is full of whimsy, humor and serious dancing. Effective use of a scrim helps tell the story and is especially effective during the opening scenes. The Artistic Director, Diana Cuatto, employes creative choreography to showcase the strengths of her dancers

    Wonderful evening

by HSHRedhead on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

It ws a wonderful evening of ballet - especially for young fans. This was the Maryland Ballet Company. I'm from NYC where I've seen the top ballet companies there. Many of the MBC dancers were on par with the best dancers in NYC. There was some uneven skill levels among the dancers - but this was probably not noticed by many in the audience. The music was recorded, but hey what can you do? Sets, costumes and the size of the dance ensemble was all terrific. All in all a terrific evening.

Ballet Theatre of Maryland's Brilliant Performance

by REA496 on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

The beautifully staged and costumed Cinderella, choreographed by Dianna Cuatto, Artistic Director, was performed by Ballet Theatre of Maryland, the State's premier professional ballet company, at the Lyric Theatre on March 28. Exceptional technical brilliance and artistry were characteristic of principal dancers Nicole Keisch as Cinderella and Alexander Collen as the Prince. Alyssa Johnson-Taylor and Jill Cyr as the Step Sisters brought comedy to the production. Soloist Lauren Derring danced an elegant Fairy Godmother and Will Smith portrayed an amusing Wig Maker. The ballet was enthusiastically received by the audience including many young girls dressed in Cinderella costumes. Ballet Theatre of Maryland is one of the cultural treasures of the State. Their next performances are of Innovations 2014-2015 at Maryland Hall in Annapolis on April 17, 18, and 19. This program features works highlighting the versatility of the company.

    A Beautiful Cinderella

by Tari2 on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

My family and I so enjoyed this production. There was beauty but also a lot of comedy. I loved the pas de deux between Cinderella and the Prince. The stepsisters were also pretty funny. I would like to see more performances of Ballet Theatre of Maryland at the Lyric. I love the fact that Baltimore student dancers were involved and that they complemented the dancing of the professional dancers. Thank you for a very memorable evening!

    Cinderella

by SJSB1 on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

The Ballet Theatre of Maryland did a wonderful job with this production. The dancers were beautiful! Although, as with all ballets, I would not recommend it for very young children. Many had trouble sitting through the entire production.

    Cinderella was entertaining

by gnana3 on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

The only issue I had was the three intermissions. I guess it was for the kids. This was my grand daughters first time seeing a real Ballet performance, they really enjoyed it.

    Cinderella

by BreeZGirl on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

It was a bit ameteur. And there was no live orchestra. Also, the audience was targeted to young girls; however, there were TWO intermissions, the second ocuring at 9pm. Much of the audience left at the second intermission and did not see the finale and curtain calls. That being said the two principals: the prince AND the white fairy were superb and should be upgraded to a more professional company.

    Cinderella was amazing!

by sodapop2 on 3/31/15Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

The Maryland Ballet did an impressive job with Cinderella. Their talented company was indeed 'lighter than air'. The ballet was visually stimulating and the choreography conveyed this ancient fable beautifully. The only low in the evening was the absence of an orchestra or pit band to accompany the dancers. The canned music detracted from an otherwise unforgettable evening.
