The beautifully staged and costumed Cinderella, choreographed by Dianna Cuatto, Artistic Director, was performed by Ballet Theatre of Maryland, the State's premier professional ballet company, at the Lyric Theatre on March 28.
Exceptional technical brilliance and artistry were characteristic of principal dancers Nicole Keisch as Cinderella and Alexander Collen as the Prince. Alyssa Johnson-Taylor and Jill Cyr as the Step Sisters brought comedy to the production. Soloist Lauren Derring danced an elegant Fairy Godmother and Will Smith portrayed an amusing Wig Maker. The ballet was enthusiastically received by the audience including many young girls dressed in Cinderella costumes.
Ballet Theatre of Maryland is one of the cultural treasures of the State. Their next performances are of Innovations 2014-2015 at Maryland Hall in Annapolis on April 17, 18, and 19. This program features works highlighting the versatility of the company.
