    Timeliness was ???

by Circlular on 5/13/13Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This event had technical issues from the beginning until the end. There were portions of lines that went unheard. Therefore, it is difficult to give the event anything fairer than a "fair'" rating. The music was great. There were characters that the audience had to figure out over time. The musical play turned into a musical! The doors did not open on time after insistence that purchasers of tickets be on time. There was not assitance with finding our GA seat#.... so we sat anywhere, which is why I prefer reserved seating, even willing to pay more.

    Big Disappointment

    by pashun8one on 5/13/13Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This was not worth $32!! The first scene was praise dancers dancing for about 20 minutes. Then, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit had a few lines. End of scene. It took an hour to set up the next scene which was a bunch of chairs to resemble church. We left at intermission.

Church Folk was a poorly written performance

    by Pudding2 on 5/13/13Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This 'play', and I use the term loosely, was poorly written and even though each of the actors had wonderful voices and the musical performances were great, it did not compensate for the poorly written script. There was no central theme and the individual vignettes did not connect or relate to one another. The performance would swing from comical to dramatic without warning and for no particular reason. The staging was strange, it did not complement the performance. Most of the microphones used by the performers did not work properly. The lighting near the rear of the theatre where we were seated were never turned off. And, lastly, there was no program to identify the actors, director or production crew or to give a brief synopsis of the play (and this was sorely needed because the script was all over the place). Overall, it was a poor amateur excuse of a play that never should have been funded or performed.
