CHIC IN CONCERT:

Disco fans get ready to freak out — Chic and Giorgio Moroder are coming to the Hollywood Bowl in 2014 for one of the most anticipated strobe-filled nights of disco music the legendary amphitheater has ever seen. Acting as gatekeepers of dance music's vanguard, Moroder and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers aim to highlight the connection between classic disco and contemporary dance music by sharing the bill with young electronic acts including Oliver, Tennsnake, and Destructo. The night of open-air music will feature The Bowl's state-of-the-art audiovisuals, Southern California's pitch-perfect weather, and plenty of dancing in the aisles, making for an unforgettable night of classic disco magic.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

In 1976, guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards formed Chic while working as session players in New York City. Rounding out their act with the addition of two female singers, the band struck disco gold with 1978 sophomore album C'est Chic, topping the charts with iconic smash "Le Freak." A year later, the band released Risque, again reaching No. 1 with "Good Times," a defining moment of the disco era and one of the most sampled songs in music history. The group's success waned along with disco's popularity in the early '80s, but renewed interest in the genre has led to several reunions over the years, paving the way for the group's continued touring in 2014.

First time & wow the energy

    by rograbt on 10/3/23

We were surprised by this performance. We went to see Duran Duran and knew Chic was an opener, but wondered how much they were playing since they didn't have that many hits to fill an hour. What a show! They played 5 of their hits and filled the rest with songs that Nile had produced/co-written. They had EVERYONE up jumping, dancing and singing. The female vocalist both have amazing voices. Their covers of Diana Ross, Sister Sledge & Madonna were spot on.

Don't understand the hype about this fella

    by ShropshirePilot on 7/24/23

The last time I left a gig was in the 80's when I went to Michael Jackson and also Madonna both in a short period of time at the old Wembley. The reason I left was because they offered no engagement or personality to the crowd and place they were at. I saw Nile Rodgers at the weekend at Ludlow Castle. Yes the rain didn't help. Is Nile Rodgers stupendously talented? Yes. Has he written some amazing songs? Yes. Have I ever heard anyone so full of himself and his achievements? No. I've seen loads of bands but never have I heard anyone telling the crowd how many awards they've won/ Grammies/ sales of records. Absolutely off putting and irrelevant. How about engaging with the crowd and some appreciation. The issue I had was that the show was note perfect but I would have had as much enjoyment watching it on TV. Dreadful dreadful arrogant but talented man. Waste of money. No atmosphere, no performer warmth. Could learn a lot from the people he writes for or Phil Collins/ Robbie/ ACDC or almost everyone I've ever seen including Chas and Dave!! This gig left me feeling sad, let down and miserable. NEVER again. Will listen to his songs and enjoy them all but as for his self congratulations - leave it out. Interestingly, about 50% of the crowd left before the end... says it all no matter the weather.

What an incredible performance, not one moment to sit, no chair needed!! Crowd was blown away. No reason they need to warm up for anyone.. they can stand on their own .. I will travel to see them again !!!

    70’s Baby!

    by NanaMom on 12/6/19

We had Cher tix at the Garden in NYC. We didn’t recognize the name Chic. Wow! Best surprise of the night! ALL OUR FAV SONGS from the 70’s! It was the MOST FUN we have had! Brought my 22 yr old son. He got a glimpse of where we’re from! Me & MY SISSY grew up with their music! When they played Sugarhill Gang, we nearly LOST IT! My husband who’s a few years younger said it was like walking into a club in the 70’s. Would LOVE to see them again! The audience went WILD for Nile!

    Sublime Concert!

by Jamie on 9/1/19The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

Truly one of the best concerts ever! Funk, Soul, R&B and disco all wrapped up into one big two hour party. Nile Rogers is a sublime guitar player and the whole band and female singers were incredible. He has produced David Bowies Lets Dance, Diana Ross, Sister Sledge and Duran Duran but he's so humble and you could just tell he was having a blast as were the lucky ones to see him and the band perform their magic. Ten Stars!

    Chic

by Buck on 2/6/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

The show was great but I was disappointed there weren’t more people there. I realize it was probably a fill in date and there wasn’t much time. Regardless I’m glad I went.
