Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle - March 25, 2018

by Dimanche on 3/28/18Carolina Theatre - Durham

The almost entirely Beethoven program was magical and inspiring. Even compared to major Symphony Orchestras in Boston, San Francisco, New York, and elsewhere, the usual orchestra and conductor were magnificent. They more than made up for their size with passion and outstanding musicality in Symphony #5. Every note was perfect and the players and conductor were in complete unison. AND THEN Piano Concerto #3 began with guest artist Nathan Lee who is a prodigy in the ranks of Mozart and Midori. He actually BECAME the music, with musical maturity well beyond his years (now only 17). Bravo, COT!! Bravo, bravo, Nathan and thank you for the beautiful encore!!!

Seats are tiny but nice theater

    by Pozman42 on 3/28/18Carolina Theatre - Durham

Music was amazing but the seats are tiny here. Theater was built in 1926 so it was expected. I'm 6'5" and was extremely uncomfortable.

Excellent performance. The Chamber Orchestra Musicians are highly skilled and produced. an incredible sound. The program was interesting in it's romantic variability and the conductor did a great job explaining the various works with wit and enthusiasm. The young emerging artist, Paul Huang, made our hearts soar. It was such a fun afternoon.

    Basically Bach - COT

by PhilMDev on 11/15/11Carolina Theatre - Durham

What a wonderful concert! The venue - Carolina Theater in Durham - was great as usual. Crowd was appreciative. And the music was superb. One thing I really enjoy is when the conductor talks about the concert. You learn so much more about what's to be played and what it means. This is a benefit of going to these smaller concerts (along with a $20/ticket price!) as opposed to those in a much larger venue and with a larger audience.

Great Sunday Afternoon with the Chamber Orchestra

    by Jimbo46 on 10/18/11Carolina Theatre - Durham

Seating and acoustics were fantastic and the program well constructed. Introduced to Micheal Hayden brother of Franz Joseph. Music was well conducted by L Muti, the Chamber Orchestra couldn't have sounded better. Thoroughly enjoyable.
