Celldweller was amazing. Very. I'm hoping a live cd or dvd is released sometime, because he basically remixed all of the songs he played for the performance, and they were awesome.

    Celldweller rocked!

by dasboomski on 5/11/11The Club at Stage AE - Pittsburgh

The place might have been small, but it was alive! It was a fantastic show. Klayton and Bret brought the place down.

    Celldweller in Pittsburgh

by sevenplusthree on 5/10/11The Club at Stage AE - Pittsburgh

Celldweller finally graced Pittsburgh and the show was fantastic. Klayton and Bret were both energetic and the interactions that they with the crowd were on point. It was nice to see them move around the tiny stage a fair bit; everyone gets a good glimpse at the band they came to see! After the show was a meet and greet, and both of them were wonderfully friendly and engaging. Would very much recommend a Celldweller show to anyone!

    Great Energy, Fun Show!

    by CHA1N5 on 3/5/11The Basement - Columbus

Disclaimer: I'm already a long-time fan of Celldweller, so it's no surprise I'm going to love their (his) live show. That said, given the genre, I was a bit skeptical about how Klayton would perform. The show features him and Bret (Blue Stahli) sharing the stage. Klayton contributes nearly all the vocals and the two of them share keyboard, guitar and drums duty. The show is very high-energy, nearly continuous in flow and very fun. The venue I saw it at, The Basement, is standing-room only and puts the crowd mere inches from the performers. Klayton interacts with the crowd a bit and generally makes you feel involved. The quality of the music is very high. Some performers that produce great studio music are... unpleasant on stage; Klaton's music suffers no reduction in quality on stage, but it does change a bit given the sound reinforcement of the venue. Most of what you hear during the show is pre-recorded and the elements performed live are highly affected, but that much should be obvious, given the genre. There is a seamless integration of the two, which I was pleasantly surprised about. In The Basement the bass was satisfyingly gut-churning and that brought a great energy to the music. The mixes deployed during the show are, as far as I can tell, unique to the show yet still very familiar to fans. In particular, Switchback had a very unique and protracted mix that translated very well to the crowd interaction. If you're considering this show, you really can't lose. The tickets are a bargain and the music high energy and high quality.

Not Merely a Concert; But an Experience

by pastorz on 3/5/11The Basement - Columbus

Some performers are best in the studio (i.e. CDs, MP3s), others live on stage. Celldweller excels in both realms. Klayton is a musician / performance artist. His concerts are just as visual as they are aural. Celldweller's recipe for the other night's musical feast included lighted instruments (glowing rims around the drums, keyboards, etc), rear projection screens running video perfectly synced to the live performance and Klayton's dramatic singing and playing skills. Add Bret Autrey (Blue Stahli) to the mix and you've got an incredible and memorable show. My only criticism, and this is really minor, was that it seemed the stage at The Basement limited the background effects (i.e. the videos) from playing to full potential, as the images projected onto the simple, tripod-style screens utilized only half or maybe even 1/3 the size of the screen. I would love to see this same show in a slightly larger venue as I am assuming the problem with the videos had to do with not enough space (linear feet) between the projectors and the screens. Then again, some ultra short-throw lenses could fix that (sorry, my AV geek-slip is showing) But seriously, 2 guys put on 1 incredible show...or really, experience. If Klayton comes to YOUR city, make sure you don't miss the opportunity to be completely blown away!
