A night at the ballet-SD City Ballet
by Detroitbo on 11/9/10Spreckels Theatre - San DiegoThe dancers are stronger than ever. The challange of performing Balanchine choreography has made them stronger and more confident dancers. The first piece Jewels ?? had beautiful ruby red costumes and had lots of fast foot work. Kind of jazzy which I liked. Although the 2 leads did not seem to have much chemistry. The third piece was beautiful and the 2 soloists had excellent chemistry and timing. Almost as one at times which is so difficult to do unless you are in the zone as one with your partner. The final piece was my favorite of all. It was strong and soft at the same time. Large cast which filled the stage with energy. At times it was hard to take it all in for I was looking everywhere at all the dancers who were so strong and performing different choreography at the same time. HOT!!!!! The piece ended with a strong finish which left me wanting more. I love and hate that.
