About

CAVEMAN IN CONCERT:

Ambitious indie rockers Caveman always whisk ticket buyers away with their dreamy textures and beautiful melodies in concert. The band's guitars trade off cascading echoes and chiming chords to imbue each song with a thick and hazy atmosphere while the drums provide the hypnotic backbeat that drives standout tracks like ìIn the Cityî, ìMy Timeî, and ìAnklesî. Tying it all together is frontman Matthew Iwanusa, whose dynamic and passionate vocals draw listeners into the emotional core of every song. Not only does Caveman impress listeners in the moment with their heady atmosphericsóthey also leave fans with a head full of melodies to hum the whole way home.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After forming in 2010, Brooklyn-based Caveman wasted little time in bringing their immersive indie pop to the masses, making their recorded debut in 2011 with CoCo Beware. In that short time, the quintet of Matthew Iwanusa (vocals/guitar), Jimmy ìCobraî Carbonetti (guitar), Stephen Marolachakis (drums), Sam Hopkins (synth/vocals), and Jeff Berrall (bass) impressed critics enough to earn a spot on Stereogumís 40 Best Bands of 2011. Following tours with luminaries like Cursive and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros,  they released their self-titled sophomore album in 2013 ahead of appearances at prominent festivals like SXSW and Sasquatch! Thanks in large part to featured actress Julia Stiles, their 2013 video for ìIn the Cityî generated additional buzz for the up-and-coming band. While fans eagerly await more surreal atmospherics and sing-along melodies on the band's 2016 album Otero War, Caveman continues to envelope concert-goers in their lush and passionate sound.

    Merry Cavemas!

by BunnytheKitty on 12/9/13Bowery Ballroom - New York

Amazing stage decked in holiday lights and trees, Caveman completely rocked it. The opening bands were weak, like warmed-over indie rock you might see on gossip girl or something, so I was nervous. But Caveman did not disappoint. Loved the entire show.

    Caveman - No Good.

by LiaLai on 4/18/13Webster Hall - New York

Lucius and another band, opened for Caveman, and they were amazing!! I really enjoyed the show and the space but right when Lucius was going to play their very last song the bassist said that the previous song was their last song and needed to leave the stage?? So that meant that Caveman needed about half an hour to set up. We stood there waiting for 45 mins before Caveman came on and for 15 minutes of that time the stage was completely empty. (was it really worth rushing Lucius off?) Then Caveman, the indie rock band sounding more like the jam band Widespread Panic came out , with their hair gel and contrived outfits. They were not my favorite obviously, but that doesn't matter, everyone has their own music preferences. I was looking forward to hearing them because I had heard good things but I really had come for the Lucius set and so did a lot of other people and they truly rocked out their very original set just to be cut off early for no apparent reason.

Great gig, sounded pretty good, their sound suits the Bowery for sure. The warm ups were excellent, a pleasant surprise. Heaven were very good and likewise for Au Palais. A thumbs up from me.
