Unforgettable night. Wonderful production. Was mesmerized and captivated all evening and well into the weekend. WELL DONE, ARIZONA OPERA!
Wonderful voices and the singers could act. First time I've seen so many things on wheels rolled out of the Church in "Cavalleria ...". It helped drag the music (Intermetzzo).
These 2 operas were fast moving and very enjoyable. Pagliacci was absolutely sublime. You could truly feel the pain that Pagliaccio felt for his wife. Would highly recommend you catching this double bill if it comes back to town. We were truly entertained and 3 hours went by so fast. Bravo, Bravo to our local Arizona Opera.
It has been years since I attended the opera and I am happy to report that it holds more drama and magic now than it did then! I loved the characters in both operas. I am new to Phoenix and Arizona. I was thrilled to hear that the opera will soon have a new home. Santuzza and Lola, Turiddu and Alfio - voices were wonderful, orchestraton lovely, scenery appealing and appropriate - creating the space, the time, the setting for these dramas to unfold in Cabalieria Rusticana. I loved Canio's aria. in Pagliacci. I think Allan Glassman has a beautiful voice. But Nedda, Tonio and Silvio were all necessary and were wonderful in this performance. Thank you for a lovely evening. I know now that I don't have to have the best seats in the house. The auditorium is intimate enough to provide excellent viewing for all its patrons. As my guest, I brought a friend (of Italian heritage) that had never attended the opera before. She was highly entertained by the surprise endings, the drama, the history, the music. We are looking forward to another performance this season. I would consider us very happy patrons willing to repeat the experience. Thank you so much for your hard work and wonderful talent from so many.
Cavalleria and Pagliacci were fenomenal in their performance, music, escenography, but my favorite and most expected was Pagliacci, I coun't help to cry.
Both fabulous, professional, wonderful voices, costuming, music.
The conductor was excellent. He nagivated the orchestra and singers through some difficult passages, particularly in "Cavalleria Rusticana". Canio in "Pagliacci" was outstanding and was truly the star of the evening. Liked the colors and settings in both productions- efficient use of materials. It was a really enjoyable evening. I sat up in the "Gods" and had a great view of stage and orchestra pit. I would buy this seat again, even if I could afford more expensive seating for this reason.
Pagliacci isnt performd too often by AZ Opera, which I think is why i get so excited when I see its being performed. It was a more than wonderful performance.
Musically outstanding. One more chance. Go see today!
