    We had a great time

by mglamorgan on 4/30/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Not that we are experts in theatre shows and we have never seen another performance of Cat in a Hot Tin Roof to compare, but we do know we had a great time. Great actors, all of them, on a great play. As English is not my first language I was a bit worried I would not understand the play but all was very clear and very intense. We got tickets for the front row but there was an extension of the stage that was badly done and not very nice for people in the front row. Apart from that we loved every minute.

Great play! Wasn't sure what to expect in the beginning, but it only got better as it went on! Scarlett Johanssen did a great job!

    Great play

by Adri85 on 4/16/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

We went here during our trip in NY mainly to see Scarlett Johansson and we were pleasantly surprised to see there were also better actors than her there. She was good, but her male counterparts were... more experienced. Everything was nicely done and we kept hearing people complain they can't understand the Southern accent. We had to get used to it, but after 10-15 minutes you can surely understand.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

by JeffS66 on 4/15/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Very good cast and play. I've never seen the film but after this, I want to. All the actors performed their roles well and it was worth the price of admission.

    A Great Intimate Theater Experience

by tigermoth on 4/15/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The cast all gave 100% of their focus and emotion for the length of the play (close to 3 hours). Early criticisms of Scarlett Johansson;s southern accent were understandable and at times her diction seemed so fast compared to other times I've seen this play but she put so much longing, frustration and energy into her character that after 2 minutes I didn't notice. She's one of the few actresses that transcends her own beauty and can make her character believable. The staging and lighting were wonderful and I enjoyed the sound effects and background music. They helped add to the storyline. All the noise and razmatazz of other plays and musicals have their place on Broadway but for me this is the real deal: Great acting with laughter, sadness and no safety net.

Ms johansonn leaves no-one missing Elisabeth Taylor. The show is worth the trip from Europe to Ny just for it

    Eh . . . .

by Anonymous on 4/1/13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I saw three plays last week; Pippin, Matilda and this. The former two were wonderful, with Pippin being my favorite. I'd never seen it before. Cat, however, was a bit of a disappointment. Two biggest complaints were Big Daddy and Maggie. Big Daddy spoke like he had his mouth full of marbles and I missed half of his dialogue. Maggie just didn't have the allure that I think this character needs, and again, I found issues with the clarity of her dialogue as well.
