Candyland is an act so mind-boggling they need to be seen to be believed. The California-based duo -- comprised of DJ Josie Martin and producer Ethan Davis -- has been creating music together for three years, wowing EDM fans with their flawlessly produced tracks. But it's their live shows that really highlight the mind-blowing power of their sound. Martin and Davis invite concertgoers to revel in their collective weirdness, creating a judgment-free zone where ticket buyers can dance to their hearts' content without a shred of inhibition. As the duo's de facto hype man, Davis lords over the spectacle armed with a mic and a drum set, while Martin pours out a frenzy of amped-up remixes and original tunes. The duo closes out its sets by blasting the Isley Brothers' "Shout"-- a long-held tradition that unleashes a wave of contagious energy and utter euphoria.
With their impressive mix of bass music and melodic hooks, energetic DJ duo Candyland is a welcome breath of fresh air in the electronic music world. Santa Barbara, California natives Josie Martin and Ethan Davis met in 2011 at Davis' 17th birthday party, which also happened to be Martin's first-ever DJing gig. The teens bonded over their love for EDM icons Knife Party and Skrillex, and they soon teamed up to make their own tracks. Candyland's big break came when they became the first act to win back-to-back remix contests on the DJ community website Beatport, with their versions of Skrillex's "Make It Bun Dem" and Bingo Players' "Rattle". Two of their original tracks, "Hate On This" and "Piano Sure Is Neat", reached the top 100 on Beatport before racking up over five million plays on Soundcloud. In 2013 The duo continued to expand their ever-growing online fanbase with the release of their debut album Bring The Rain. Boasting seven original genre-bending productions, the album took Beatport by storm. It reached number three on Beatport's Top 100 chart, and earned four number ones on its dubstep, electro house, drum and bass, and glitch hop charts. Since then, Candyland has acquired their own residency at Marquee nightclub in Las Vegas and even started their own record label, Sweet Shop Records. Stints on tour alongside other major acts like Breathe Carolina and Krewella have followed, branding them as one of EDM's must-see live acts.
