Phoenix Coyotes sponsored this event in which a hockey game was televised in the arena, followed by three Canadian Bands, "Canadafest." The hockey game portion was not well attended, and the video screens left a bit to be desired. Wish we would have stayed at YardHouse to see the rest of the game.
Trooper was the first act. Of all three bands, they had the least airplay in the U.S. but the crowd must have been primarily Canadian because they got a warm reception. They played many of their hits, performed well, and even signed autographs after the show, My girlfriend had never heard them before and loved them, enough to get the back of her shirt signed by the band! What a groupie!
Loverboy took the stage next. I was never a huge fan but they were actually much better than I anticipated. They even had some hits that I recognized but didn't know they were responsible for. Like Trooper, great energy for aging rockers.
Bachman and Turner (basically BTO) were the headliners. Their voices have held out great, and they still play excellent guitar and bass, respectively. Wished they would have played "Looking out for Number One," but did get a lot of the other hits. In a show like this, I didn't expect a full extended concert. They did one encore.
