About

Calexico in Concert

Calexico is currently touring with Iron & Wine. Calexico and Iron & Wine first made an artistic connection with In the Reins, the 2005 EP that brought Sam Beam, Joey Burns and John Convertino together. The acclaimed collaboration introduced both acts to wider audiences and broadened Beam's artistic horizons, but it was the shared experience of touring together in the tradition of Bob Dylan's "Rolling Thunder Revue" that cemented their bond. Their metaphorical roads diverged in the years that followed, but they kept in touch and cross-pollinated where they could. But although they often talked about rekindling their collaboration in the studio and on the stage, it wasn't until last year that their schedules aligned. Calexico and Iron & Wine have announced Years to Burn, their first full–length album together, available June 14th via City Slang in the UK/Europe and Sub Pop in the rest of the world.

    Outstanding live performance!

    by Magoo on 6/22/22Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

I was awestruck by the energy, clarity, musicianship and songwriting of Calexico~ They rocked a packed house with their latin rock fusion sound, so Southwestern and so CA cool. Every musician in the 7 piece band was outstanding, often playing multiple instruments and soloing like jazz masters. Of course, Burns and Covertino (sp?) were perfect, and Brian Lopez was supreme on lead guitar and vocals. Whew! A 2 hour show with no down time; I don't know how they do it. I left both limp as a wet noodle and energized beyond belief. If you get a chance to see them life, do it! Their records are great, but their live shows are incredible!

    Desert Delivery

    by Azsilverback on 6/22/22Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

Calexico delivered another fabulous concert in the Sonoran Desert of their hometown of Tucson Arizona USA. Joey, John, Sergio and the entire band never fail to give an outstanding performance here, and this time Brian Lopez added tremendous lead guitar. If you haven’t seen Calexico, catch them live the next time you can. You’re in for a treat!

Yellowstone closed but you can find Old Faithful in Calexico

    by RushmoreYankee on 6/22/22Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

Always consistent, always entertaining. These guys explode like boiling water shooting from under the surface of the Earth. And as the hot water rains down, you’re left in awe of what Mother Nature has created. A group that blends the sounds of Latin America with indie rock just like just like Old Faithful blends water with chlorine and silica? Their music burns, much like I imagine Old Faithful’s column of steam and water would, weighing in at a hefty pH reading of 9! Although, Calexico is anything but basic. Their musicality cuts deep, akin to how that famous geyser offers a tunnel into the magma chambers found far beneath the surface of Yellowstone. These talented musicians are at the top of their game and are always reliable for a great show, sort of like the consistency of Old Faithful, except during a few periods of extreme drought in the 13th and 14th centuries when the delicate balance of the supply of water, recent or active magmatism to supply heat, and the right geometry of fractures in subsurface rocks to permit episodic discharge was temporarily disturbed, putting Old Faithful into dormancy. Calexico is not to be missed!

    Almost Perfect

    by Cliff P on 6/22/22Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

The show was amazing! The band was really tight and in the pocket. The only issue was the sound. It seemed the mix was never quite right. Most of the show the vocals were either muddy or buried under the instruments. At times, the trumpets overpowered everything. However, the show was still enjoyable.

    Sound was terrible

by Gini on 6/8/22Neptune Theatre - Seattle

I love the band but whoever was doing the sound at the Neptune was not listening. Loud and distorted and some of the instruments were not turned up or not amplified from what we could hear. Terrible shame…

    Amazing concert experience

by Amanda P on 2/10/20The Anthem - Washington

My boyfriend and I went to The Anthem to see Iron and Wine and Calexico this last weekend and it was one of the most amazing shows and venues we’ve been in. The staff was super friendly, the in and out procedure was efficient, and the show itself was incredible!
