Great concert but venue could be better

    by Viv27 on 12/31/19Lincoln Theatre - Columbus

The performance of the quartet was perfect, however we did not understand that at this theater, they obscure the view from the seats located on the sides. We were unable to book front row seats in the middle section, so had to sit on the second row on the right side. There were 7 people on seats on each side of the stage, so when there is an orchestra, you are unable to see them perform. From where we were sitting, we could only see the backs of the people sitting on the stage during the first and last half hour of the show. When I asked the staff, they said that the people on the stage paid more. We have not seen this in other theaters, so prefer other venues.

Just saw Byron again with the Sarasota Orchestra. What an evening? Saw him a few years ago here and couldn't wait for a re-appearnce. What a talent and wonderful performance. I felt sorry for anyone who was not there last night.

    Columbus Jazz the best!

by JazzyMazzy on 1/1/17Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUS

Bobby Floyd and Byron Stripling riveting as always. Columbus is so fortunate to have them, and the Community Band was impressive, especially the youth band members. Best way to bring in the new year.

Byron Stripling and the TSO shine.

by DSexton on 1/20/16Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

A charismatic Byron Stripling and TSO Director Chafetz brought an afternoon of fun and sweet New Orleans' sounds to the Tucson Music Hall. It was entertainment at its best and it delighted the audience. I had seen the performance of Byron Stripling on a streaming broadcast of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and it made me want to hear more. When I saw he was performing with the TSO, I had to be there. I was not disappointed.

    Fun for Everyone

by notaguitarman on 1/1/14Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUS

It was hard to determine why we were the youngest in the audience. This was an entertaining show for someone of any age. The music was inspiring. Byron and all the band members are especially talented. Jamie Ambersold highlighted the show for me as a sax player. The Lincoln Theater has an interesting history which many of the employees shared with us, area parking provide a safe and adequate environment for anyone not used to the city. Arrive early, we were first into the theater and chose fourth row middle; center stage. This was a good area to see the stage and all the players; The sound was clear but not overpowering.
