About

BUNJI GARLIN IN CONCERT:

Trinidadian ragga soca star Bunji Garlin has long reigned supreme over the [so it doesn’t read as ALL niche genres] niche genres, but in 2013 he scored a major crossover success with Carnival anthem "Differentology." The song, a Top 10 hit on the iTunes World Music Chart, was remixed by none other than Major Lazer for the Lazers Never Die Vol. 4 EP, introducing him to a whole new set of international listeners. With his fast beats, sharp synths, and dancehall flow, Garlin is sure to have fans dancing the night away on his 2014 North American tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Trinidad, Bunji Garlin came up in the small island nation's soca scene, making a name for himself by winning the International Soca Monarch competition several times in the early '00s. After a string of regionally distributed releases, he set his sights on international audiences with 2007's Global, a moderate success that put him on the international radar with solid tracks like "Swing It" and "One Family." In 2008, he was runner-up at the International Soca Monarch competition, losing out to his wife Fay Ann Lyons, a talented artist in her own right and daughter of soca legend Superblue. Pairing up with guitarist Nigel Rojas for 2013 Carnival hit "Differentology," Bunji achieved his first significant international success, paving the way for a highly anticipated 2014 tour.
