    Blues Festival Rocks!

by OneBluesFan on 9/16/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This was my first experience at the Bull Durham Blues Festival but I can honestly say it will not be my last! Buddy Guy was so incredible...truly a living legend!

The music variety was phenomenal - only disadvantage was that the vocals were distorted for the upper tiers.

    Buddy Guy was on point!

by endube on 9/13/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

the Wild Magnolias came up from the "Big Easy" and took us to the Mardi Gras with high energy. them the melodic voice of Ms. Bettye Lavette took us gently to another level where Buddy Guy was waiting to all but give the Blues another color. he's still the man!between headliners, local groups kept the show rolling. now i know who i want to see and where to go see them. DPAC is truly an amazing venue for a show. six hours?!?! looking forward to the Bull Durham Blues Festival when it comes back next year!

Great Show. Buddy Guy's guitar way to loud/bright. Maybe gain turned up too high.

It was a good show, but I expected more traditional blues, not jazz.

Just a Music Festival with a little blues

by ezfunguy on 9/13/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Only one harp player....and that was the first band outside for free! I can't believe the mix of music. I went to this show thinking it was going to be 8 hours of blues. Boy, was I mislead. A good number of people were outside smoking or in the lobby watching the free acoustical player for most of the night. The smart ones did not even come until it was time for Buddy Guy. I am done paying for the "big guys". Sticking to the small time blues festivals where you can dance without getting yelled at to sit in your seat.

Bettye Lavette's vocals are fabulous, and it was amazing to see the legendary Buddy Guy show off his unbeatable electric guitar skills.

Outstanding Night at theBull Durham Blues Festival

by HPP3 on 9/13/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

6 Hours of incredible music. Local and National Acts at the top of their games. The Wild Magnolias were scorching and the depth of Bettye Lavette's talent was an astonishment. But Buddy Guy is a master.guitarist and a master showman.

Maladjusted Sound System Ruined the Evening

    by PAG24 on 9/13/10DPAC - Durham

I've attened multiple events at the DPAC in Durham, NC. I was excited that the festival was being moved out of the Bulls Athletic Park (the music always sounded terrible) to the DPAC which normally has superb accoustics and sound system. Unfortunately, the sound system apparently was run by stoned 20 year olds. Buddy Guy is a virtuoso blues guitarist. The music was so deafening loud and the sound system so out of adjustment that most of Buddy Guy's performance was only loud, indiscernable noise. It sounded OK when Buddy was hitting the softer blues strokes.
