Great show!! Opening act with Bob and Una Walkenhorst warmed up the crowd with beautiful ballads and biting lyrics. Brewer and Shipley were in fine voice and played many favorites. ASL interpreters added a unique dimension to the show. The only reason this did not get 5 stars is there were a few sound glitches but even those did not detract from a great concert.
I first saw Brewer and Shipley at the Vanguard Coffee House at 43rd and Main (long gone). I think the years was 1967. I loved their music then and I love it today. The owner of the Vanguard, Stan Plesser, saw their talent as one that would go far and founded Good Karma records with them as its focal point. He recorded some of their live performances and sent me reel-to-reel tapes of them and Danny Cox in Vietnam in the late 60s. I even heard their music being performed in Thai blasting out of a record store in Bangkok, Thailand in 1974. "One Toke" in Thai ... mind blowing. Their music is timeless and will outlive us all. Thank you, Tom and Mike, for such an enduring legacy.
Poor. Played for less than an hour. one of the gentlemen were sick and obviously should not be scheduling gigs. Mostly talking about their past with an occasional song thrown in. Would not do it again and would not suggest to anyone to attend.
Amazing as always! Hard to believe they have been performing for 51 years.
The concert was wonderful. I only wish they had sung "Tarkio Road." It was a delight to see and hear Danny Cox; I did not know he was going to be there. The Nace Brothers and Bob Walkenhorst and Jeff Porter were great too. The sound guy for The Nace Brothers and Bob and Jeff stood up the whole time. I am sure he felt he needed to in order to do a good job, but it blocked some peoples' view of the stage.
My first time seeing Brewer and Shipley and the show was so good! From the very first note it was clear how good these guys are together. the show was full of great stories and very funny and the music just couldn't be better.
Band played tight musically and harmonically. All I could have asked for in seeing these these two for their 50th anniversary tour!
