Band excellent/venue BASS turned up TOO LOUD

by Sabinajustkidding on 5/9/18Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Brazilian Girls are one of a kind and I would never miss seeing when in Boston. Second time seeing a show at Brighton Music Hall and the BASS is so high you can't hear the treble range. Loud is great, but when I can feel my chest vibrate from the sound waves, that's too far and it makes seeing bands there a lot less pleasurable. BTW, I have been to scads of concerts and am not adverse to loud, BMHall just crosses the line.

    total disappointment

by Anonymous on 8/21/17Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

I used to be a huge fan. They have changed, I am also sober now, so maybe the drugs/alcohol made them seem better...they show was a total disappointment and she seemed bored and tired. She even read the lyrics to a song off her phone. I don't know that I would pay to see them again.

by Nadbob on 8/7/15Bearsville Theater - Woodstock

Brazilian Girls has a great sound. Enjoyed Bearsville but sound level just too loud for me. Play them at home, sound will be better.

    Brazillian Girls - Good Time!

by MajikDex on 2/17/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

What made this show cool was Sabina cavorting with the audience - she is hot and talented! The band was really tight and played some wonderous grooves. Drummer (Aaron) is a funk machine - definately a hoohah time. Never been to Brighton Music Hall but it was a great venue.

It's very sad that one of my favorite bands gave such a bad performance, mostly due to Sabina's unprofessional attitude. First of all, she left the stage several times, didn't sing much in several songs, and left the stage for "Don't Stop" so the band played an instrumental version of the song. The really bad part was that she brought up on stage a very drunk girl from the crowd, who stayed on stage for about half the show and gave a completely pathetic display that looked more like a strip club act. I don't understand why Sabina encouraged that to happen; the rest of the band is good and professional, though.

    Strong start, weak finish

by emgeemann on 2/7/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I've loved Brazilian Girls since my DJ friend turned me onto them. Their sound is great - seductive, groovy and danceable. I was excited to find out they were playing in Boston and at a reasonable price, so I hopped on the tickets. The show promised an opening act playing from 8:00-10:00, which would have been a nice way to warm up the crowd. Unfortunately this act was a no-show. Bummer. Brazilian Girls came on a bit late, not terribly so, and this is always sort of expected so it was no big deal. Their set started strongly, with the group meshing well and getting everybody moving. I had the pleasure of standing behind Amanda, the super-drunk and enthusiastic chick who kept getting up on stage, stumbling around and doing an awkward rendition of twerking. It was funny and welcome at first, but it got old as she kept getting on stage and derailing the act. The bandmembers seemed to be at odds as to whether Amanda should be allowed on stage. I side with the keyboardist, who tried to usher her off after her 3rd or 4th cringe-worthy appearance. From the audience members around me, it seemed obvious she was no longer welcome on stage and we'd rather focus our attention on the band we paid to come see. Instead, we got a faceful and earful of Amanda. Aside from sub-par crowd control, the set itself started to nosedive after their first few songs. The singer disappeared, and the band took an impromptu intermission - this was only maybe 20 minutes into the set. They gathered back together, but from this point on the singer would sporadically leave the stage every 10 minutes or so (often mid-song) for several minutes. Who knows what she was doing in the back room, but it affected her ability to perform. This prevented any continuity from developing, and would negatively interrupt the flow of the set. It really bummed me out when she was gone for "Don't Stop" - the band seemed to deal with it, jamming for a few minutes, until she finally reappeared. Instead of working off the lead-up and properly kicking off the song with her vocals, Sabina simply proclaimed "Stop!" and the band stopped playing. Major buzzkill. In all, I don't regret having gone and still had fun. Drinks were fairly priced, the sound and volume was good, and the grooves that they held together were solid. I just wish it hadn't fallen so flat and nosedived into the realm of the underwhelming. In all, the set was just over an hour - disappointingly short. This band could be so good.. hopefully they get their act together!

    Brazilian Girls are pathetic...

by Stephan02118 on 2/7/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

This was one of the most embarrassing concerts I've attended in my life. This band produced some fun songs in their heyday a few years ago, but it seems that they're now a washed up group of nobodies. I know this sounds harsh but this concert was insulting to the audience in so many ways. I invited 8 friends to this vouching for the band and I was so terrified at what a horrible experience this was. The band started an hour late, and when they got on stage they were obviously wasted. The singer even started by saying "I'm not sure how many of you are interested but I am really drunk". She was the main reason the concert was so humiliating. She slurred her words, when she didn't forget them, wandered up and down the stage and was just so painful to watch. She then brought a drunken woman on stage who did a poor man's twerk for half hour. The singer then left for a while, which allowed the band a couple of good songs without her, then she came back with a DD coffee in an attempt to sober up! But that didn't work either. She brought her drunken skunk friend on stage again and slaughtered a few more songs. It was humiliating and insulting to everyone in the audience and the management should have issued refunds for this travesty. NEVER AGAIN will I ever even listen to their music. I hope they continue their downward spiral into nothingness and make room for talented bands on that stage. Shame on you Brazilian Girls....

The band sounded *very* different than what they sounded like on the CD. The lead singer just sang half-assed through all the songs.
