BODY LANGUAGE IN CONCERT:
Electronica quartet Body Language makes sleek, dance-worthy pop music brimming with lush vocoders, glittering synths, disco-inspired beats, and catchy R&B-influenced hooks. The band's mesmerizing live renditions of their electronic recordings has landed them on tours with acts like Zero 7 and Sia, and critically acclaimed releases like 2014's Infinite Sunshine EP ensure they have plenty of material to be a potent headlining act in their own right. In concert dual vocalists Grant Wheeler and Angela Bess harmonize perfectly while he plays the synthesizer and she taps out sparkling melodies on the glockenspiel, and the result is a unique vocal and instrumental interplay that always keeps ticket buyers on their toes. Whether they're conjuring up the chill wave groove of "You Can" or getting fans dancing with the disco strings and soulful vocals of "Well Absolutely", Body Language always treat fans to a euphoric concert experience anchored in first-rate musicianship.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Body Language formed in Hartford, CT in 2008 as an offshoot of a weekly local party thrown by founding members Matthew Young and Grant Wheeler. They enlisted vocalist Angelica Bess and relocated to Brooklyn, where they released their 2009 debut EP Speaks. Later that year they became the backing band for alternative hip hop artist Theophilus London, and it was through this gig that they linked up with fourth member Ian Chang. The newly minted quartet hit the road with Zero 7 at the end of 2009 for their first North American tour and embarked on a second tour with Sia just a few months later. In 2010 they released their sophomore EP Social Studies, a polished collection of songs that garnered critical acclaim and led to a deal with San Francisco-based Om Records. Their full-length debut Grammar arrived in 2013, generating significant buzz and resulting in tours with the Hood Internet and Rubblebucket. With another release in the works for 2015, Body Language has fans dying to catch the new material at their upcoming shows.
