BLUE MAGIC IN CONCERT:

R&B/soul legends Blue Magic have been holding it down for fans of smooth, soulful balladry for more than 40 years. The band's honey-toned vocals, airtight harmonies, and sentimental lyrics make for a nostalgic experience at their acclaimed shows, where audience members sway to classics like "Slideshow" and "Spell". With original members Ted Mills, Keith Beaton, and Wendell Sawyer helming the operation, Blue Magic continue to dazzle on their must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Blue Magic was formed in Philadelphia in 1972 from two separate groups both affiliated with the city's WMOT Records. They become one of the earliest groups to record with legendary R&B producer Norman Harris when they enlisted him for their debut single "Spell", which earned them their first appearance on the R&B charts. They scored their first No. 1 hit the following year with "Sideshow", an affecting ballad from their self-titled debut album. A string of R&B hits followed in the '70s, but as disco took over the airwaves the band experienced internal tensions that resulted in various lineup shifts. Now reunited with original lead singer Ted Mills, Blue Magic has ticket buyers eager to take a walk down emory lane on their next tour.

    Awesome old school show

    by Weight on 10/10/23

Blue Magic was great. Saw them in Indianapolis with the Manhattans and others. I have to say that Blue Magic did the best. From their blue outfits to their singing. It was great. Please come to Chicago or the surrounding areas so we can see you again. The old school concert was great.

I really enjoyed the show. The comedy act was very good and the singing before the Delfonics and Blue magic came On was great. I would go see them over and over. They were both great.

    Disappointed!!!

    by T. O. on 7/16/22

I saw blue Magic in AC the other day. I love this group, been a fan for years. They were one of my favorite’s. Along with the Jackson 5. But age has now Creaked in. I don’t know what may have happened to them that night. I was so disappointed they sang three songs. Then walked exited the stage. I am assuming maybe they’re experiencing grief. Since their friend the leader, of the Delfonics passed that morning. So that might have played a part in their performance. For me it would have to be a cheap concert. The next time test the water. I’ll continue to play their music. Love Them. Speaking how I feel. I love this group from my youth. I’m not trying to put them down. It might have been me expecting a little more. :-)

    AWESOME Show

by NiceValentineShow on 2/17/18Constitution Hall - Washington

I was at the Valentine Show at Constitution Hall and Blue Magic was GREAT. They were among other groups that were pretty good, but I felt they stole the show. I could have listened to them for another hour - easily!!!!! I'll be so glad when they return to DC area so I can once again enjoy watching their choreography and listening to their songs (and of course singing along with them)!

This Blue Magic group with Ted Mills is not the best to see. Ted Mills was once the best! but if you want to see Blue Magic...Go see the other Blue Magic group! They split and the other group is amazing! I saw them in the Poconos a few months ago and just this Saturday at the Beacon Theater in NYC...The crowd went bananas! Next time you plan to see Blue Magic, make sure it's not the group with Ted Mills...Like I said...He was great and he is the original...but the guy that took his place rocked it with the other original members of the group.
