About

BLAKE MILLS IN CONCERT:

California-based singer-songwriter Blake Mills has been a session and touring guitarist for big names like Neil Diamond, The Dixie Chicks, and Lana Del Rey, but lately it’s his solo works that fans are buzzing about. Mills’ 2014 sophomore album Heigh Ho featured a masterful mix of soul, blues, and roots rock, and he traverses these styles seamlessly with virtuosic fretwork and evocative vocals. The album features a duet with longtime collaborator Fiona Apple, and Eric Clapton has called Mills “phenomenal”, so fans can expect a first-rate show every time the veteran rocker takes the stage at his live shows. Whether he’s displaying his prodigious guitar chops or singing to the rafters on “Hey Lover”, Blake Mills always treats ticket buyers to an unforgettable concert experience full of finely crafted songs and awe-inspiring musicianship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Santa Monica, CA-born Blake Mills attended high school in Malibu, where he and classmate Taylor Goldsmith formed the band Simon Dawes in 2005. The duo released two records to critical acclaim before breaking up in 2007 to pursue other projects. After touring extensively with artists like Jenny Lewis, Cass McCombs, and Julian Casablancas, Mills made his solo debut in 2010 with the album Break Mirrors. The record was a hit with critics, landing on numerous year-end lists and leading to session work with a variety of big name artists including Weezer, Norah Jones, and Pink. Mills made his TV debut in 2012 on Conan O’Brien, where he performed a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Heart of Mine”. Since then he's produced records for Alabama Shakes, Sky Ferreira, and Jesca Hoop, in addition to self-producing his critically acclaimed 2014 sophomore LP Heigh Ho.

Blake Mills is a true artist

    by JojoBeans12 on 7/27/15Bearsville Theater - Woodstock

In a world of transitory and uninspired music where Swedish dudes get paid 100k a show to press the play button and pretend like they're doing something, Blake Mills provides a truly revelatory experience for his audience. He and Stuart Johnson (on drums) and Chester Taylor (on Bass & Synth) will mow you down with their talent and musical virtuosity. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

    Blake rocks

Blake was great. His music, guitar playing, voice and banter made it a great time. It's refreshing to see someone early on who is rapidly rising in the world of music.
