BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Santa Monica, CA-born Blake Mills attended high school in Malibu, where he and classmate Taylor Goldsmith formed the band Simon Dawes in 2005. The duo released two records to critical acclaim before breaking up in 2007 to pursue other projects. After touring extensively with artists like Jenny Lewis, Cass McCombs, and Julian Casablancas, Mills made his solo debut in 2010 with the album Break Mirrors. The record was a hit with critics, landing on numerous year-end lists and leading to session work with a variety of big name artists including Weezer, Norah Jones, and Pink. Mills made his TV debut in 2012 on Conan O’Brien, where he performed a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Heart of Mine”. Since then he's produced records for Alabama Shakes, Sky Ferreira, and Jesca Hoop, in addition to self-producing his critically acclaimed 2014 sophomore LP Heigh Ho.
