    The Sound ruined it all

The venue and the sound was the killer for this show. However, these two always come correct so they made up for the faults.

    Overall, a lot of fun

This was a great show at a good venue. Arrived a bit late, so only saw the last couple songs from Hot 8. Galactic was absolutely incredible, especially with Corey Glover on the vocals. Their cover of Kashmir by Led Zeppelin was impressive. BlackStar was fun after the first 20 min of microphone issues were sorted out. Woulda given it 5 stars if BlackStar wouldn't have had the technical difficulties.

Production and Crew drops the ball!!

1st: This was a major Jazz fest event. You'd think that something really special would have been brought to the table. It wasn't. The sound sucked. In fact, Kweli's mic wasn't working at all, so the only thing you could here from him was the sound of the monitors on stage. You could here Mos, but the mix with the DJ wasn't proper. It took them 20 minutes before they had to stop the show, and do a sound check, give Kweli a new mic, and address the issue. Lots of people in the crowd had already begun leaving. This was so disappointing. I love Blackstar's music, but this show as just subpar. I thought for sure they would have collaborated with one of the opening bands and do some rapping with live music, especially for Jazz fest. Nothing. The show wasn't well put together or rehearsed at all. The sound guys failed greatly. Mos said "thank you for giving us your money, and more importantly your time." I wish I could get my money and time back.
