    Blackie, etc.

by John A on 12/14/22National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I like to go to concerts for a little escape. So it is annoying to see some groups such as Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Digging Root, Amanda Rheaume, etc, with some Indigenous members, take a significant amount of my time lecturing and chastising us for all the wrongs done to them. Ironically, they say we need a conversation, but they have the microphone. And most of their audience I suspect is sympathetic to their views, so what’s the point? Additionally, it would be greatly appreciated if the audience were asked to not use their cell phones or other recording devices. The music, however, was terrific.

    Mixed

by Ron on 12/14/22National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I've seen Blackie many times, this one was good but not the best. Overall too loud. Couldn't hear the vocals clearly enough, lyrics got lost. Ears were ringing the next day. Great guests joining the show, and the guy with the rainbow-lighted hula hoops was dazzling!

    Amazing Show!!

by Gumper on 12/14/22National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Opening act Digging Roots were very good, esp. the guitarist and drummer. Lead vocalist needed her mic turned up a notch. The Hoop Dancer was mesmerizing! Terra Lighthouse has a great voice. Blackie and Rodeo Kings sounded amazing as always and bringing on Serena Ryder and Colin James was the icing on the cake! One of best shows we’ve seen in years!!

    Excellent show

by Mo on 11/13/22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Fantastic musicians. They all looked like they were having fun up there. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that Colin James came to play a few songs with them. Added bonus. Also appreciated that they started at 9 and played for over 2 hours solid. A lot of the acts at the commodore don’t start until 11...I’m ready to leave by then!

Blackie & The Rodeo Kings @ The Commodore Ballroom

by Martin Street on 11/12/22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

It’s been a very long time that BARK has played in the western US so the possibility to see them in Vancouver BC was a must see. And we weren’t disappointed at the fantastic Commodor Ballroom where the sound was excellent. I must say that this was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended, if not the best!

    BARK? HOWL!

by MemoryBoxer on 2/24/20The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This was my second time seeing Blackie & the Rodeo Kings - and they seriously kicked ass yet again. Each member of the band brings a fantastic energy, fine musicianship, and tremendous stage presence, with Stephen Fearing, Colin Linden, and Tom Wilson each trading licks and vocal duties, as well as stories and commentaries between songs. With Jon Dymond's solid bass lines, Gary Craig's meticulous drumming, and former Full Tilt Boogie Band keyboardist Ken Pearson bringing his masterful moves between organ and piano into the mix, the songs ranged from poignant and heartfelt ballads to sheer joyful rocking goodness. I look forward to the next time around.

    GR8 Show

by HabsForever on 11/7/17National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Once again B and the Rodeo Kings did not disappoint. Their musicianship along with their stage presence was all that was needed for an amazing evening. Guest musicians Matt Andersen and Bruce C.(and others) added to the show also. Colin Linden is always a pleasure to watch play his guitar and bounce around the stage too.And Tom and Stephen compliment him accordingly too.
