    What did he say?

by RSTGuy on 11/16/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Crystal's performance was first rate! But, was I the only patron that had a hard time hearing? Yes, we were way in back (right in front of the unattended sound board), but for a first rate Broadway production where the the dialog is the only focus, there was a real lack of presence in the back of the theater. I asked a staff member to look into this at intermission and she was told it would not change. Very dissapointing.

    Honest and hilarious

by Mamadilo on 11/5/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

This was Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays 400+ performance. He put so much of what seemed like his authentic self into this highly entertaining autobiography. Heartfelt one moment, hilarious the next. I left realizing, of course, he is so much more than a comedian--but don't call him the "class clown!" Learning about all the famous jazz singers and musicians in his childhood, was so interesting. The State Theatre could use more ushers and Disney's people-moving expertise, as it took 20 minutes for the crowd to enter the theatre. But the show was fabulous!

    700 Sundays

Wonderful! We all enjoyed the show. We expected more laughs in the first half and got that - but the second half exceeded our expectations.

    Wow

    by lakerman17 on 11/1/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Some of the comments overhead while leaving the theater... "Unbelieveable", "Fabulous" "He is a true entertainer" and "That couldn't have been any better". I loved it, too. Billy shares stories about his family growing up.The kind of show that was lots of laughs and a few tears, as well. Would definitely recommend and would see it again.

    Still The Master

by SWylds on 10/31/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Even if, your husband is late, you have a wardrobe malfunction that requires you to get out of the car and change, you have to wait (impatiantly) for a train to cross an intersection, then you have a 15 minute construction delay on the interstate (ARG), you and your husband have a very loud "spat" about where the entrance to the parking garage is so you miss your turn and have to make an illegal u-turn, no matter the obstacle you must persevere, BECAUSE HE IS THAT GOOD. Then you will smile all the way home and you may even giggle for no apparent reason. Billy Crystal is the consumate story teller, especially when he is telling stories on himself.

    A truly extraordinary performance

by DelightedTheatergoer on 10/31/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

I know Billy Crystal is a great comic, and a fine (comic) actor, but still was amazed at this performance. He kept the entire theater mesmerized, alone on stage, for more than 2 hours. The show was funny, warm, and personal. The stories were wonderful. It was one of the best nights of theater, ever. See this show!

    Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays was a treat!

by Anishinaabekwe on 10/30/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

I enjoyed Billy Crystal's performance. I learned a lot about his childhood and the amazing people he knew through his father's business. I also could relate to many of the memories he shared, having been through some similar events myself. I wouldn't say the show was amazing, but I'd definitely tell people who have enjoyed Crystal's humor to go see the performance. The only true disappointment of the evening was how unorganized and slow the theater was in getting people admitted and seated, (even though we got there 25 minutes prior to the show.) The entrance line took forever and many people missed the first few minutes of the performance because of the chaos and time it took to get everybody in and seated. However, the show itself was a good one.

Billy Crystal - 700 Sundays - touching and funny

    by mommabone1 on 10/30/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

This show was everything I heard it would be. Not an ego trip, but a trip down memory lane. We tend to think of the famous as being different, but this show brought home that we are all the same. It was very funny and entertaining of course, but it was the moments when he spoke of his parents and family that touched me the most. Like him, I lost a parent very suddenly and way too soon and experienced that "otherness" he spoke of - so it was cathartic, but healing too to be able to laugh and remember the good and sad. A beautiful evening spent with a very real person, who just happens to be a famous comedian.
