About

BILLY CONNOLLY IN CONCERT:

Sideways-thinking and speed-chatting Scotsman Billy Connolly is a consummate improv performer and storyteller, regaling crowds with off-kilter folk songs and ridiculously circuitous stories for decades. Fans can always expect something weird, canny, and Scottish at his winking live shows as he works his way through new material and old standbys from his expansive discography. Having bounced back from prostate cancer in 2013, he remains an unstoppable force of funny on his 2014 tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Originally trained as a welder, Glaswegian comic Billy Connolly was inspired to a life of performing after one too many drinks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Seeing the freaks and geeks he realized he could do the same, taking up banjo lessons and forming the comic-folk duo the Humblebums. His hilarious introductions before the band’s shows gained him recognition as a comic, and when the band split in the '70s, he took his act solo. Since then, he's gone on to achieve legendary status as a funnyman, writer, actor, and massive influence on subsequent generations of "tongues."

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"First time I have managed to see Billy live and he was amazing. We laughed from the minute he came on until he finished.”

"Billy Connolly is one of the best comedians! I've seen him perform in multiple countries now and have never been disappointed."

"Billy was the best comedy show I have ever seen. Laughed so hard I cried and my sides hurt.”

Billy Connolly bucket list = BOOM!

by blarneygirl on 5/30/16The Wilbur - Boston

I have been waiting years to see Billy Connolly. The Wilbur was packed and hot as it was a sold out show there was NO room to even wiggle in the seat...all patrons were in awe of this brilliant man. Fantastic show beautiful location. Wilbur needs HVAC work done the air was stifling. I got so overwhelmed with the heat I had to go out and splash cold water on my arms and face. Stayed out in lobby for 10 mins. just to breath. Unfortunately missed a huge storyline.

    Awesome Show-Awesome Man!!

by Celticspirit on 5/28/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Billy has always and will always be very funny. His jokes are better than any I have ever heard from anyone else (female comediennes included). I look forward to seeing him again in the near future. I'm proud to say I am one of his loyal & very devoted fans. He amazes me with his energy because there is no way I could stand up for two and a half hours without taking a break.

Really incredible. I wish I could have seen him before he got sick, but he was still an amazing performer.

    Connolly still has it

by BigYinFan on 5/23/16The Wilbur - Boston

Having watched Billy Connolly for almost 40 years I was wondering if the onset of age and his fight with Parkinson's Disease would allow him to perform to his usual standard, and, while his movement is now restricted, his mind and his humor are as sharp as ever. While there were odd moments where it seemed he was taking a pause to regain his train of thought, he still has the awareness and timing to berate unruly patrons or late comers, and at the drop of hat changed subjects to go into a completely different monologue and then return to his original story, just as he has always done. Altogether an extremely funny, and for the most part original, couple of hours. As usual with Billy there were too many funny parts and stories too remember the day after, but the enjoyment and laughter will not be forgotten.

    Billy is still the greatest

Despite his frail health, he treated us to 150 minutes of absolute hilarity. Billy is a legend, and he has a great heart. We love him!

    Billy Connolly

by Anonymous on 5/22/16The Wilbur - Boston

I have seen Billy Connolly several times but have to say this one was the best ever. As a irish woman he brought me back to his comedy and reminded me of all the childhood experiences - even my Scottish granny would approve. He kept it clean bar the C word but used it appropriately when needed. His story of the uncle doing the Santa gig had me running to the toilet. Be careful of arriving late you will be a target and I am glad he does this as its so distracting to have to move several times for later arrivals. Wilbur seats really tiny and uncomfortable but he gave us over 2 full hours and best value ever Thanks Billy even though the ole Health is not so good the way you gracefully address it into the routine was appreciated - you are a true genius

    High Horse Tour. Brilliant!

Billy Connolly put on an excellent show. Although battling Parkinson's disease, he kept to a fast pace. His storytelling technique is highly amusing.
