About

BIG DATA IN CONCERT:

Electrorock outfit Big Data generated significant buzz in 2013 with their breakout hit "Dangerous", a hook-laden slice of funky electro that featured fellow New York band Joywave. The track's slick beat, heavy bassline, and kaleidoscopic synth lines sound better than ever in concert, and the band's infectious energy always gets crowds moving and shaking. Big Data may be new to the scene, but their polished tracks and dance-heavy live shows have them well on their way to the big leagues.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Big Data is the project of Rochester, New York-based musician and producer Alan Wilkis. Wilkis made his debut in late 2013 with the 1.0 EP, a concept mini-album that offered commentary on society's ever-complicated relationship with technology in the form of four glittering electrorock tracks. The Joywave-featured lead single "Dangerous" was a breakthrough hit, landing at No. 2 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart and cracking the Top 20 on the Rock Songs chart. A remix album -- the 1.5 EP -- followed shortly after, featuring eight different interpretations of "Dangerous" by artists like Joywave, Bad Cop, and CHAPPO. With their catchy, dance-friendly tracks and razor-sharp personal style, Big Data are a rising new act ticket buyers won't want to miss on tour.

    by Aimeec90 on 10/30/18The Underground - Charlotte

For such a small crowd to come out, they put on a show as if the place was packed! I’ve always loved them live and this time was no different. They played some new stuff too even though the album isn’t out for awhile. Highly recommend!

    Big Data and CastleComer

by PuraVidaWTW on 10/25/18Brighton Music Hall - Boston

As usual, love the BMH venue. Sound is great. People are great. I was wondering how Big Data would pull off the live version of the 2.0 CD going in. Answer is he brought in Lizzie to sing alongside himself. It WORKED well, along with suspected background track, though hard to tell. Of course if Joywave or Rivers Cuomo showed up it also would have been great, but they were probably busy. Net Net, Big Data was lots of dance pop fun. Surprise of my Monday night at BMH, was CastleComer. Fresh in from Australia with a Debut Album, they killed it for a brief set before BD came on. Similar vein to BD with shades of fellow Aussies Atlas Genius and Cat Empire. Welcome to the U.S. boys and have a good tour. Will try to see you again.

Big Data was ok. Castlecomer stole the show!

by Rektor on 10/22/18House of Blues Cleveland presented by Cricket Wireless - Cleveland

Big Data doesn’t translate as well live as I would’ve hoped, but it’s not surprising with as many guest artists as he has on his album. The opener, Castlecomer from Australia, was great live. Fantastic energy and hungry for success. Bought all their merch and hope they succeed!

    Amazing Show

by SeaBreezy on 10/17/18The Shelter - Detroit

The energy of every band was amazing. I actually loved the second opener, CastleComer. I would highly recommend them, and the first band Fitness (was taken) was also really good. I was slightly let down by some technical difficulties that a lot of the bands had, but overall it was still a great time.

    Big Disappointment

by BigDater on 10/17/18The Shelter - Detroit

I was really excited to spend my birthday with Big Data in The Shelter for the second time. The first time was outstanding and sounded fantastic! Great stage presence and the crowd was very engaged. I couldn't wait to get the album and have been following them ever since. However, that was not the case this time. Completely different experience. The crowd was super small which was sort of surprising. The sound was awful. Alans' mic was either not on or very low for most of the songs so you could barely hear him. Very disappointing performance overall. Hopefully, they can work out the kinks for the rest of the tour.

Big Data, beer and Mandalay Bay beach... amazing!!

by Dennis74 on 8/17/16Mandalay Bay Beach at Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

This was quite possibly the best concert I have ever been to considering the music, location and the amount of beer available with much ease. We spent a little extra to access the VIP section and it was well worth it. I didn't know exactly what I was getting into with the VIP tickets, but it was simply amazing. We literally got to lay on beds under the stars while drinking beer and listening to Big Data, I think I was in heaven!! Once we got to the VIP section it was as if the lights shined and the heavens parted. There was more than enough seating/laying areas to accommodate the amount of people in the raised section area of the beach for the VIP's. The VIP section also contained 4 beers that the rest of the people could not access, which was cool and had no lines. The main section had many beers and slightly long lines, but that was to be expected since you got to drink all the beer you could with the price of admission. Overall a great night, can't wait to get back and do it again. Great venue, reasonable ticket prices with lots of beer and amazing speaker system. Looking forward to another great concert at the beach!

    Ugly mug

by Jmisch on 8/15/16Mandalay Bay Beach at Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

That was such an awesome show, the beer tasting was great, and having it at Manalay Bay was perfect. We had a blast listening to the bands and socializing with the people around us, I would definitely do this again.

    Cowboy Mouth was never disappoints!!!

by MFPF on 6/9/15L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles - Lake Charles

Cowboy Mouth opened and left me wanting more! more MORE! I hope Liquid Society will have them back next year as a main act. Big Data was big and put on a good show but overall not my thing. I'm sure they have a bright future in pop but I'm more of a rock and roll fan
