    AWESOME!

by JulieJM on 12/9/13State Theatre - Portland

Enjoyed the show very much. Many of us bought tickets and were unsure of what we were going to see and were surprised at what a great show it was. We would have loved to hear the band play more big band tunes! They were really great! The guests were a really cool touch!

    Amazing Local Music!

by Sinford on 12/7/13State Theatre - Portland

This concert was one of the best $15 I've ever spent. I originally went to see Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, one of my new favorite bands but was excited to find our that the concert featured 8 or so local artists; Kenya Hall, Loretta Allen from The Other Bones, Syn the Shaman from Trails, Jason Spooner, Jaw Gems, Dilly Dilly, Sara Hallie Richardson and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, all backed by the Fogcutters big band. It was amazing to see all of these local bands performing in front of a reasonably packed venue. The Fogcutters brought a bunch of different genres together creating unique and diverse experience. This was my first year attending this particular event, but I will most definitely be returning in the years to come. Support your local musicians! We've got a talented bunch here in Portland, Maine!

Why did it have to end?

by TorinStorm on 12/7/13The State Theatre - Portland

By far my favorite show this year. So much energy! Although the voices started as a bit drowned out in the chaos of the band, it did not stay like that for long. Horay for big bands, and Maine artists!

    fogcutters dissapointment

by tropicaldreamer on 12/9/12State Theatre - Portland

When the slide trombone started the concert I thought I was in for a great big band show. What I found was a mix of rock and loud. Some of the performers were outstanding, however louder is not necessarily better. You reach a point of distortion. From where I was sitting 2nd row in the balcony, the acoustics were bad and the talents wasted as I could not appreciate the voices that were drowned out. Original songs were the order of the night, and I would have preferred some of the old standards and more familiar music. Faced with a long intermission after an hour our ears were ringing and we left somewhat dissapointed.. Fogcutters is one of my favorite bands and I just love the brass, some of the sax riffs were good, but my take was too loud, too edgy, and why can't you just play 2 hours of music and be done.
