Loud background musi.
by Paw on 7/16/23A lot of what’s to enjoy about Bettye’s music are the lyrics. It was impossible to hear her as the background music was far too loud or the acoustics near the stage are bad.

Great had a wonderful time great seats saw everything
Both women were amazing. I don't know why I haven't heard of Bettye before but am now a big fan.
Bettye Lavette is the last of the true great blues divas. With every song you feel each lyric reaching from deep in her soul. She’s a true professional and always gives her all. Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club is a first class venue with no detail untouched. The staff is the best of the best!
Ms. Bettye Lavette gave us her heart and soul. An experience I will never forget.
Bettye is a legend and pours her entire soul and spirit into her interpretations. I will always jump at the chance to experience her power.
This lady can sing, and she makes the song her own. Great band and great acoustics.
What an emotionally power packed performance! I'm still feeling it days later. Bettye Lavette is a brilliant vocal stylist with incredible depth, power and grit to her voice. Blues, R&B, Soul with a gut wrenching punch to it. Her storytelling was so intense it made made my heart ache. So so good. And the band was great. The drummer - Darryl Pierce? - was particularly good. The sound quality at the Soroya was perfect. I bought several CD's afterwards "Scene of A Crime", The British Songbook and her recent interpretation of Bob Dylan songs.
The performer was O.K. for her age. I have seen her before, but aging makes a big difference on one's performance.
Bettye LaVette was an outstanding artist with tremendous vocals and terrific stage presence. Her interpretations of Bob Dylan classics were truly memorable, and she was very engaging with the audience.
