    Won't be going again

by WetherBalls on 4/11/13Eagn Convention Center - Anchorage

This was our fifth time attending. We will not go again even though it is a fundraiser for a good cause. My wife, who does not drink beer and was the DD had to pay the $45 to get in. The venue is too small for the number of people attending. There is not room to walk or talk casually with friends. Lots of pushing and waiting for your 2oz taste. If I wanted a similar experience I would not shower for two days, give the liquor store my $90, take two beers home and try to drink them while wearing a straightjacket with the TV cranked to volume level 65.

    So Good.

by Rebeerskey on 12/9/12Egan Center - Anchorage

This will be my third year attending the festival. I go once on Friday night with friends, braving the Frat Boy contingent, and once to the Connoisseur Session on Saturday with my Mom. If a quieter, older crowd and room to move is your thing, definitely shell out the extra 10 bucks for the VIP session. Beerfest is exactly the kind of thing that's good for Anchorage. It's a fun, adult-focused festival that celebrates one of the things we do best, beer! It encourages our craft brewers to get better, learn from each other, and it helps them make a living making AK proud. We can mature as a beer city and measure up to the international scene, I believe it. This event therefore typifies the kind of growing up our town needs to do. And, unlike my previous sentences, the event isn't pretentious! My only concern is that it remain a safe, security-light event. Eat a loaf of bread beforehand if you have to. But hey, even if you do vomit in the street, at least it freezes fast. So there's nothing not to love.

BEER BARLEY WINE FESTIVAL was wasted money!

by Anonymous on 2/1/12Denaina Center - Anchorage

Cost $45.00 for session to go to sample beer. the entire session was only 3 hours and you could not go to next session without buying a new ticket. They cleared everyone out in a mass push! You basicall received a shot to a shot and a haf of the beer to sample. They would never fill you glass; even if you asked to use double the tickets; and we were not able to use all the tickets that we received; only was able to use less then half. All together had maybe 2 glasses of beer total combined Last Call was announced at 445 but no distributor would even refill your glass for the last call. Over priced and so not worth spending the money for 3 hours or $20.00 for parking. There was music which was niceand food at cost which was nice but I would never go back again!
