Beenie Man: Not what I expected

by ChantelF on 3/17/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Besides the fact that the event was held on a Thurs and started at 11:30pm, I went nevertheless, because I am a huge fan of reggae, Mr. Vegas, and Beenie Man. The concert started promptly at 11:30pm, however there were so many acts and artists that Beenie man didn't take stage until 2:30am (on a Thurs nite). The MC kept saying everyone should have called out of work to attend this concert (then how the hell do I afford to pay for the ticket?). The good part was that there was no fighting or violence during the evening. Beenie Man, on the other hand, only did a snippet of every song and when I finally left exhausted at 3:30am, he was still going. I was told Shaggy showed up and was going to close the show but after standing for 4 hrs I was ready to call it a night.

    Thoroughly enjoyed.

by CasS1 on 9/2/09City Center DC - Washington

I thoroughly enjoyed the Reggae Summerfest. It was well worth the wait. Although at times the artist were pressed for time, the promotors kept the flow going. I definitely will go next year, as I have done in years past.

    Capleton deh Fyah Man

by BlackSheep06 on 9/1/09City Center DC - Washington

Given the time constraint which was disappointing, I was please with the performances. I would have love to see more of I-Wayne and Coco Tea. Hopefully the next Summer Fest will feature less artist but give them more time if the length of time can't be extended.

    VIP REGGAE SUMMERFEST CUT SHORT

by Galleon on 8/31/09City Center DC - Washington

Let me first say that the artists at Reggae SummerFest were amazing. They performed outstanding sets with what little time the organizers gave them. The performers barely got to play a song or two before they were told to get off the stage so the next one could be rushed on. They would often be taken off while half way between a hit song leaving everyone hanging, it was frustrating to both the audience and the artist. Also this is the first VIP show I went to that the high cost tickets did not include food and drinks. Overall this event needs to be organized better, maybe have it go later then 9:30pm would have been great. Once again the artists were amazing I would love to see more events with headliners like this come to the MD/DC area more often.

    Best of the Best 2009

    by halfsatisfied4once on 7/18/09Bicentennial Park - Miami

In terms of organization this was the best year since I started attending in the late 1990's. I normally arrive at 5:30pm or 6 and have a lot of band changes to endure. This year was not that way and I was pleased. It is so ironic because in 2008 I vowed I was not returning but my plans fell through at the last moment and I went to the show instead. Good job...now if we can only work on the corny jokes from the MC's and the continous roll call when the MC's only know a fraction of the countries, we would be in heaven.

    Best Of The Best 2009

by BronxBoomBoom on 7/13/09Bicentennial Park - Miami

This concert was the bomb. Anybody who is a huge fan of reggae and soca should try to attend this, which I believe is held every year. There was even a suprise guest (P. Diddy)! It was about 9 hours long and worth every penny I paid.
