I thoroughly enjoyed this event - having the depth of a symphony backing up the cast was an entertaining spin on this musical, and I was happy they kept with the original score, and the not the version based on the movie that I saw in the theater last time. Paul Vogt is hands down the best Edna I've seen in the musical - stage or screen - and brings the most 'Divine' into the role. My only complaint is with Micky Dolenz (whom I love as a Monkee!). He played Wilbur with a stupid look on his face, not befitting the character at all! Wilbur is not an idiot because he owns a joke shop. He is a loving man that looks beyond size and color, and who wants everyone to enjoy a good laugh. Micky made the role a joke, and that upset me. I think Marissa and Nick did a fantastic job as Tracy and Link, and I loved the inclusion of local talent for the chorus. Last, but certainly not least, I ADORED John Waters and his narration! I would have stayed another hour just to hear more stories from him on the inspirations behind this musical!
