Ballet Minnesota was a nice change up

by warring on 6/11/12Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

HI My daughter and I went to Ballet Minnesota. I saw it on Ticketmaster and really didn't know it was a recital type performance, but we both enjoyed the uniqueness of the event. Never have I seen Handel's Messiah choreographed for the Ballet. We were both very happy a good time out at the Fitzgerald Theatre which I had never been to. My daughter lives in St Paul area and so anytime we can try something out together is good. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell you about my experience.

Nutcracker was fabulous/Parking was a nightmare!

by ilovesnoopy on 12/22/10The O'Shaughnessy - Saint Paul

I took my two teenage daughters to the Nutcracker @ O'Shaughnessy Auditorium. It was just beautiful. Both of my girls were in our local Nutcracker ballet a few weeks ago. It was so fun to see the simularities and differences. The dancers are so talented and the set and costuming was incredible! My only complaint was the complete lack of parking! I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find LEGAL parking. I printed parking info from the website and I still could not find parking. The O'Shaughnessy parking ramp is blocks away from the auditorium. I ended up parking in a "permit only" lot. I just prayed that I would not get towed. It's terrible, so bad I will not come back. I really hope that the Ballet finds another venue to have the Nutcracker at next year. We would love to make this a tradition, but not at the O'Shaughnessy!!!

MN Ballet Nutcracker was enchanting, a real treat

by Anonymous on 12/21/10The O'Shaughnessy - Saint Paul

I took my daughter and 5 year old grandaughter to this performance, their first ballet. We all loved it, the dancers are so graceful yet amazing athlete's. The costumes were beautiful and we loved the little children dancers! We would go again. What a great family memory to share and remember always.

    Classic holiday outing

    by en2chant1 on 12/21/10The O'Shaughnessy - Saint Paul

The Nutcracker was fun afternoon outing with friends to celebrate the Christmas season and reminisce being 6 years old. There were many-many-many mothers and daughters at the Sunday matinee. You have to enjoy watching young girls prancing around in their Christmas dresses.

    Nutcracker was amazing as always!

by Shelbydiane on 12/21/10The O'Shaughnessy - Saint Paul

I have taken my 10 year old granddaughter for the past 5 years and we have loved it every year!!! It is our annual Christmas event for just the two of us. The only thing we missed this year was being able to see the orchestra.

    Impressive

by FreddyOldenburg on 12/21/10The O'Shaughnessy - Saint Paul

Considering that this was my first ballet show of any sort, and told by many people that I would love the show, my expectations were still surpassed. It was simply beautiful, played out, with excellent dancers, artists, effects, perfect timing (length of show), costumes, music, sound, visuals, etc. I was simply amazed and impressed with the show overall. I can't wait for my next ballet show; totally worth it. Seats on the Main Floor doesn't really impact your visibility since it's a small theater. My only dislike which doesn't impact a decision making attendance, were the beverage options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and how they were served with a minimum of $20 charge for credit card uses. Either way, GO TO THE SHOW!

    Pretty good performance

by Duckangel on 12/21/10The O'Shaughnessy - Saint Paul

The role of the Uncle was more creepy then magical and the overuse of strobe lighting was a disappointment. Tone down the "special effects" and let the music and dance speak for itself. Sometimes, sloppy choreography and uncomfortable seats make for a long night. Over all, not bad,for an amateur performance, but not worth the price. Parking was way too far away for the bitter cold night. I would see Nutcracker again, but not here and not with these dancers.

The was a great production of The Nutcracker! I would recommend this to everyone. The only thing lacking from this production was a live orchestra!
